Re: Who ya gonna call...?

Point being: We don't need a turn around. We need to do the same thing, a bit better and a bit more, which would see us through. Continuity might be the best bet for this season. Fair comment but we don't want to blow a good position. Despite differing views I believe that we succeeded because of C...

Re: Who ya gonna call...?

Given the size of the squad, and the transfer window closing this week, there really isn't that much left to manage for this season. The team virtually picks itself. The players need to decide, as a group, if they really want it, regardless of who the manager is. For this season alone, the risk of ...

Re: Who ya gonna call...?

I am not bothered if a manager has 'failed' in a job before, so long as they have succeeded also. Jim Smith first time round, Denis Smith, Ian Greaves, Maurice Evans had all failed in managerial jobs before we took them on and they did a pretty good job with us. It is unlikely that we are going to g...

Re: Who ya gonna call...?

I agree about all the other names though - Martin Allen, O'Driscoll, Penney etc all sound pretty uninspiring. Tisdale the best of a bad bunch amongst the bookies' favourites. I'd love Justin Edinburgh, but he'd never leave Newport for us. CW was pretty uninspiring to be fair. Edinburgh seems to hav...

Re: Who ya gonna call...?

I would prefer O'Driscoll but Tisdale would be a good choice. He is probably getting stale at Exeter and like CW it is probably time for him to move on. I don't agree that IL should keep ML in charge for the rest of the season. We are in a really good position in the league and need to try and get u...

Re: Wilder Gone

I think that CW should have gone in the summer. The situation for the past few months has been far from ideal. You can understand CW wanting some security as his contract is winding down. He will be aware of the hostility to him by some of the supporters and considering what he has achieved he has r...

Re: Who ya gonna call...?

Sean O'Driscoll

If not somebody who buys into the youth development idea.

Re: Promo or no-no?

I don't quite agree with the categories.

I think that the play offs are most likely but we have a reasonable chance of automatics. So I could not say Automatics are most likely. I put play offs is the best that we can hope for , even though I think we have a chance of automatic promotion.

Re: KITSON COMMENTS

There appears to be money in the 12th man fund which was specifically to help with the promotion push. So I reckon we need a striker if it is within the 12th man budget. I am speculating but wonder if IL is ensuring that CW is being very careful about any laonee and also there is a restriction in wh...

Re: This Saturday

I don't agree that the current situation is anything like the Atkins/ Whitehead situation. Whitehead seemed to me to be clearly better than others in the side and he really added something. To me Ruffels has been good but is he much better than Rose? Personally I would have Rose slightly in front of...

Re: This Saturday

Yes it is a really big game in the perspective of the whole season. The ridiculous thing is that if we were to win on Saturday then we are likely to be pretty close to the top 3. We are still in a very good position but need a decent run to get right back in there. It is critical that we have Willia...

Re: Charlton Replay

No...attacking flair from us. They were nothing special and if we'd gone for it we could have shaken them. Words that sum up Chris Wilder's five years in charge rather well for me. Oh well, let's concentrate on the league. Now we're dropping off the pace, there's more incentive for us to at least '...

Re: Last night

I guess that it is all about opinions.

I spoke to a couple of people who went who said that Marsh seemed totally out of his depth and was by far our worst player (unlike Ruffels who looked to be a decent player as part of the team).

What was your view of Ruffels and Davies?

Re: Charlton Replay

I tend to agree that it should have been £10 and all efforts to get a decent crowd.

But I guess that it is a school night and so it is difficult for many families/ kids and I can't see it being more than 4K to 5K but hope that I am wrong.

Re: Managerial Merry-go-round

Chris Hughton and even Darren Ferguson (and Paul Ince?) could be close to the edge now.

My bet would be on Hughton to go soon especially with the PL riches and the growing differential financially with the Championship.
