Re: #together

Sound the klaxon, Mr Eales: I HAVE A REASON TO BE POSITIVE! Whilst rootling through some papers earlier, I found a betting slip from August. With remarkable prescience, it appears I put a score on us getting relegated - at 12/1! At least if this season does all go wrong, I can get a decent case of w...

Re: #together

Completely agree with what KY and Dan have said above. Two excellent posts, and I will try to not repeat points which have already been well articulated. What stood out to me today was a manager making his side into LESS than the sum of its parts - which tells its own story. There were a few very cr...

Re: #together

What do you want [Eales] to say? 'Appy wil be shot by firing squad at the end of the Exeter game if we don't win both matches?' As calls to arms go I actually thought it was quite good. Had more substance than many of the depressing corporate missives that I read. Then I genuinely pity you. It was ...

Re: #together

I notice you didn't respond to my point - which was a fair one, so not sure why your reference to 'biting'. As for this... What is actually wrong with [Eales'] message? ...the point is that listing a load of abstract nouns ("passion, commitment, enthusiasm, loyalty, fairness, trust" etc) i...

Re: #together

Who honestly thought we would be above mid table this season after the close season hiatus? Er... the close season brouhaha was a mess entirely at Eales' own making. No-one made him get rid of Gary Waddock, who had spent much of the summer and the back-end of last season working with the group of p...

Re: OxVox. Remember them?

OxVox need to go back to being a supporters representative group rather than the club financiers and stadium decorators they have been in recent years. Agreed. I think it's a good thing that the management have said they don't want OxVox to be fundraising for the club - that should leave OxVox free...

Bizarre. Why would anyone pay £20 for that?

Re: The U's v Cheltenham Town

I didn't hear what Appleton had to say after the game but it's probably for the best. I didn't hear what he had to say either, but I know others were fuming at his comments about fans needing to be patient. The thing that made me cringe was his bit about "If anything, the boys were trying TOO ...

Best and worst of 2014; hopes for 2015

So, what were people's best and worst moments of watching OUFC in 2014, and what are our (realistic) hopes for 2015? My best : Watching us take West Brom to penalties in the Milk Cup. Sure, we lost - but the performance was superb given the Premiershi* opposition, and it was good to feel proud of th...

Re: It's all about the Boss, no trouble

Sounded to me a bit like Chris Wilder after a home game against Wimbledon Torquay, no? You might be right. I have tried to erase his little tantrum from my memory  I still think it's one of the funniest things to have happened in my twenty years of watching Oxford. Throwing his toys out the pr...

Kernow - hope you got the Dukla Prague away kit you asked for. As for the rest of your post, well, it's cliched to be cynical at Christmas.

Re: Football League Show

Agreed. The BBC have done a really poor job with the FLS. And to not show it on Boxing Day or New Year's Day because of other scheduling priorities is barmy when you look and see that it's just being bumped for old repeats. The FLS has to be different from MotD because people watch it for different ...

Re: The ‘Price of Football’ Report

Interesting. Wonder who Nick Clegg 'supports', United or Wednesday. And Farage?... Has the PM ever been spotted at an Oxford or Witney game? The irony is, politicians are far better off to just say "sorry, I don't really follow football" than to feign an interest in a team and be exposed ...

Re: Fans forum

It costs a lot of money to run OUFC in League 2... and that is why sponsorship fees are high and why the club loses a lot of money. Yes, but if you're struggling to sell sponsorship, reduce your prices. You might not get £50k, but you might get £30k - either way, that's money in the bank and a reco...
