I too think YF Dan is way ott in his critisism of CW, but of course we're all entitled to our opinons. With regard to letting players go, there's probably a lot more to it all than we are likely to know. I'd keep Clist over Hall every day of the week but how long do their various contracts run until?
Could it be that Burge is seen as the Clist replacement. Clist is coming up 30 - and yes I know we need experience - but Burge is much younger.
And before people start being critical wouldn't it make more sense to see who else he brings in first.
People keep banging on about the failure rate of the CW acquisitions but how many players are there left from the days before he arrived? Being lazy I can't be bothered to check - Beano? And it was under CW that the loan turned into a permanent move. Don't think there is anyone else as LSD is out on loan.
So basically the entire squad is CW's and we ain't doing badly for the first season back in what is a very competitive league.
As for &quottinkering&quot - well that is very much part and parcel of modern football. Nothing wrong with it imho.

Perhaps an investment in scouting might be in order?
Very good point - as I understand it Wilder, Melville and Lewis do all the scouting for the club, which I guess isn't uncommon in the lower leagues, but surely if we had an experiemced scout to report back to Wilder we would be better off.

Club text:
Midson gone to Barnet on loan
Clist available for loan
Kinniburgh &amp Purkiss available for emergency loan

Not sure the real difference between loan &amp emergency loan from our point of view, but that is the official news...

Question - of those people we have on the fringes, who show the most sign of improving/adapting given time? - from the outside, I get the sense that Midson was one of the few that were limited but learning rather than remaining on a level....but I defer to those that have seen things on the ground in recent times

Midson going is hardly a huge surprise, Wilder keeping him on last year was! I don't think he's a bad player but he really doesn't fit into the system we use. It's been evident to me he was never going to be a regular and probably not Wilder's first choice so why did he keep him? Instead his career has stalled for a year when he could of gone and made more of a success for himself elsewhere. Ah well, good luck to him, a good professional and I hope it works out for him.

Clist going is slightly more concerning as he's been Mr reliable this season. I don't know his wage (I'd imagine he's towards the top end of the Club's earners) but maybe Wilder feels he can get someone in equally as good on less wages.

I find the tinkering frustrating, as I personally feel a settled team tend to play well once they're familiar with each other. I can only asume that Wilder is simply not happy with the squad still or isn't clear yet in his mind what he wants. I'll be interested to see who we get in the summer.

Perhaps the point is that Wilder thinks there are no circumstances in which he will want to play Clist again, but with Purkiss &amp Kinni, an injury or suspension would mean that he would recall the player from the 'emergency loan'. I wouldn't fancy LB if Tonkin were unavailable and we did not have either Kinni or Clist. Wright to LB and Jimmy in the middle??

This seems very strange - to put out a club statement saying three players (effectively) are available for loan. Yes behind the scenes this could have been circulated to League 2 and BSP clubs but why such a public declaration? Surely, with 8 games to go (maybe 11  ) we need a together, happy squad and something like this could cause problems. Very odd.

CW knows more than me but...

...Does he really think we can go up?! I dont, and am happy with a consolodating season.

If you are going to start the clear out now, thus giving up on the season, then surely brining some of the youth teamers through would be a prudent thing to do? Not bringing the likes of Mr Burge (is he any good?) and thus allowing morale to suffer.

I am all confused!

Youth teamers? Do we still have them? We're really just a feeder club for Oxford City in that regard.

Burge has been at the club for a few weeks now and has played in the reserves a couple of times I believe. Certainly looked a pretty good player on Saturday to me. Doncaster were watching apparently, and yes looks like he is pretty good.

Jon would have a better view than me as to whether any of the Yt are good enough at the moment.

Until we can't go up it seems sensible to me to try and win every game. We are after all only 2 points outside the play offs so why not go for it?

When we can't go up, I guess CW will give Woodley etc a chance.

Woodley must be about 25 by now, hes been the up and coming youth for ages!

A little disappointed, but not surprised. For all his strengths, Wilder’s frenetic attitude to transfers is unsettling and IMO a factor in the team’s inconsistencies.

What he has not been is inconsistent with his vision of a “settled future
