December 11th 2004
On this day thirteen years ago, Ramon Diaz took charge of his first U's match after being
appointed in a surprise move by Firoz Kassam just two days earlier following Graham Rix's
sacking. Diaz - kassam's seventh managerial appointment in four years - could not speak
a word of english and Kassam said he would be taking shares in the club.
United defeated Cambridge United 2-1 with first half goals from Tommy Mooney
and Craig Davies. Jermaine Easter ensured a nervous finale when he pulled a late
goal back for Cambridge.
