Re: Red Cards 2015-16
I think there was a similar record last season, think it was only Barnett in the league and Meades in the cup, whereas there were several players sent off against Us.

Re: Red Cards 2015-16
Its a sign of good discipline from us and opponents who have to do anything to stop us.

Incidentally, the FA yesterday, rejected Leyton Orient's appeal
against Baudry's red card for his reckless, scything tackle on
Kemar Roofe.Baudry must now serve an immediate four match ban.

Quite right too. Was a shocking, dangerous challenge. Absolutely no intent to play the ball whatsoever.

Re: Red Cards 2015-16
Certainly no intent to play the ball. But was it 'shocking' or 'dangerous'? Just looks from the highlights like a cynical sliding trip to make sure Roofe got no further - and it worked. Not DOGSO though, so the red card might have been a bit harsh, but not the kind you're ever likely to get overturned.SWA wrote:Quite right too. Was a shocking, dangerous challenge. Deny an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity
Re: Red Cards 2015-16
Why did he get a four match ban? Was it due to failed appeal ?

Cynical - yes but Roofe was right on the wing nowhere near goal - yellow would have sufficed.SWA wrote:Quite right too. Was a shocking, dangerous challenge. Absolutely no intent to play the ball whatsoever.

Re: Red Cards 2015-16
Red card doesn't need to reflect a lost goal scoring opportunity.
A challenge only needs to be dangerous, or out of control, to warrant a straight red, anywhere on the pitch.
Ref got that one exactly right. He got plenty more wrong though, not least the lack of added time other than for subs and goal scored.

James Constable was the last U's player
dismissed in the Derby fixture in March 2012
at Grenoble Road. In March 2001 United
lost both Matt Murphy and Dean Whitehead
to red cards in a stormy Manor Ground encounter.

Sam Long, of course, has a 'red' for us this season (at Bristol Rovers).
Re: Red Cards 2016-2017
Now seven reds for United's opponents this season.
