Bradford - deja vu?

Last year the match at Valley Parade saw a performance from Creighton of such indiscipline and ineptitude that imho resulted in CW making the decision to get rid.

Did Damian Batt repeat that yesterday? I fear he may have done - CW really seems to have lost patience with DB. I love Damian Batt as a player, but his disciplinary record this season is appalling - 2 suspensions and yellow cards in double figures (many of those for backchat).
He clearly needs to sort himself out - he is becoming a liability and could well be putting his OUFC career in jeopardy.

BTW - Beano this season has 2 yellows and 1 red, so has clearly desisted from the backchat which got him so many bookings in the past. It can be done - Batts needs to take note.

Despite the red card which could be deemed controversial at best, Beano seems to have really managed his bookings situation this season and should be applauded as such for adjusting his game accordingly.

I agree - the first challenge was ridiculous and completely unnecessary and the second, while a bit soft, was stupid when on a booking. It's cost us big time as we would have got something out of that game. I don't think it's quite as clear cut as Creighton but I can see your point.

I wasn't at the game, Jerome, but Wilder's reaction in his post-match RadOx interview was about as angry as he gets and just about (and only just) stopped short of accusing Batt of costing us the game.

Those were Batt's 11th and 12th yellows of the season. Picking up a card every 3rd game is really very poor.

I'd also like to echo the positive comments re: Beano. A|| for managing to keep on the right side of referees this season!

I agree with this. I'm a really big fan of Batt as a player, but as a defender you have to stay on your feet unless it is absolutely necessary. The number of bookings he has had this season are too high and there is never any excuse for a booking for back chat which has happened several times this season.

When you've been booked as a player, it is a warning to stay strictly within the rules for the rest of the game. Getting two bookings for bad challenges inside one game is really not very intelligent football.

A bit soft? I've just seen it on the yellow player highlights, and Batt basically executes a kung-fu kick! The Bradford player is standing upright, and Batt manages to knee him in the head. I'm surprised it wasn't a straight red for dangerous play. Ludicrous challenge, whether he'd been previously booked or not.

Yeah it looks a lot worse on the highlights - it just looked clumsy at the time. but seeing it again it's definitely a yellow. the first one was more stupid though

More deja vu, too:

Wilder brings in a new loan striker, dropping one who's done nothing wrong and everything right.

Wilder's substitutions were completely crazy too. Putting a central defender on up front, presumably to become an aerial threat, then moving Holmes - who was having an excellent game on the wing - into central midfield, where long punts upfield completely by-passed him.

It was a horrid, horrid performance. Batt's sending off certainly didn't help matters, but we never looked up for it all afternoon.

I hope Slumdon wasn't our cup final. I fear it might have been.
