I can't see a need to change the present arrangements for home or away games.
Those who commit the most money to the club and in advance, by buying a season ticket should have absolutel priority.
Then those who are prepared to commit in advance to a select number of games ie membership, should be next in line.
The only possible change I would think might be beneficial is an away season ticket, but I don't see why away season ticket holders who are prepared to commit money to other teams but not OUFC, should get any priority for cup games.
Season Ticket Holders

As for another example, then did anyone else see diehard fan Ross Clarke (aka ‘Rasta’) desperately waving a twenty pound note around in the Kassam Stadium car park prior to the Leyton Orient disaster ‘cos he didn’t have a ticket?
And has anyone seen him anywhere near an OUFC game home or away for a number of years now.
Not saying he fell into this category, but there were some "fans" who seem to have disappeared as soon as FK's ownership was brought to an end.

True, but we were both in the queue at 7:30 a.m. waiting for the ticket office to open, like hundreds of others."Baboo" wrote:We did not sell all our full allocation for this game."Snake" wrote:[

Yes, but that's us - we did not need to have done so. We could have rocked up there days later and still got a ticket."Snake" wrote:True, but we were both in the queue at 7:30 a.m. waiting for the ticket office to open, like hundreds of others."Baboo" wrote:We did not sell all our full allocation for this game."Snake" wrote:[

I think it is wrong to describe buying a season ticket as demonstrating loyalty, as it can be taken to imply other actions of fans represent lesser levels of loyalty. What I am demonstrating with my ST is a commitment of financial support. I know I will only get to a fraction of home games in a season, but buy a ST nonetheless - but also partly in the knowledge it guarantees me a seat in the SSU I like, and which offers me other modest perks as well. The points above about DCFC, the number of fans, issues around the greater number of occasions when some sort of rationing mechanism is needed, etc, are well made.
BUT is the way for Oxford to go, to charge for a membership scheme? If so, what perks would make it worthwhile, whilst also (potentially) upsetting two-thirds of our average home support, either by relevating them in the priority list or by making them pay more for what they are curently getting in the ST package?
Whatever, the club looks to reward financial support. A membership scheme would be a lower level of financial support, so should it provide equal or greater benefits than ST membership? For me the key issue is the greater need for such schemes with clubs with much larger support than ours (where are the examples from Divisions 3 and 4 - they would be much more pertinent). For our club, a scheme which provides some benefits could be a useful addition to the club's revenue streams, but the benefits need, in my view, to be proportional to financial commitment (and as others have said, away attendance is a great commitment of support for the club, but the money goes to the opposition).

I have been a ST holder for over 20 years. I have one, because I go to every home game. It makes sense, of course it does. I do not have to queue up at the ticket office, just arrive at game and go in. Plus also a generous saving on matchday ticket price. Too right as well for coughing up the dosh in advance. However, I am not a regular away traveller. Maybe 5 or 6 trips in a season. So I would have no problem with the guys who travel to more away games each year than I do, having an equal chance, or priority over me on away tickets. Priority for away tickets could be Season ticket holders and Members first. General sale after. This is where a Membership scheme would work for everyone who follows OUFC. BMW workers have got to be welcomed with open arms. the more bums on seats, the more money the club makes. More money the club makes, the better player we get. And so on. We are in this altogether, aren't we? Lets drive this club on to where we all want it to be.
