Obtaining a ticket - doubtful.

We've been allocated nearly 3,000 tickets. They will go on general sale and you'll be able to get one.

I agree. The OM is making out that season ticket holders will buy them all but I can't see that happening. The only problem might be getting one in the scrum of the general sale but i think very few people who really want a ticket will miss out.

I reserve the right to be entirely wrong though!!!

It strikes me that we are back in the big time when even our Season Ticket holders are complaining about the hassle involved in getting hold of a ticket for an away game.

Isn't there a bit of a conflict of interest there? Being paid if something happens that you're supposed to prevent?
What a bizarre reply. Are you suggesting that the police shouldn't be paid for investigating any crime which occurs, as they should have 'prevented' it in the first place?

Or are you proposing that there be sufficient police working every match to prevent 'any' crime taking place amongst a group of 10,000 football fans, in which case, will you be footing the bill?

I'm going to be extremely gutted if I can't get a ticket to this. I (like all of you) have waited 10 bloody years. I don't even remember when I was last at the County Ground - I think Moody scored and we drew 1-1? I was only 8 or something.

Does anyone think tickets will even go to general sale? Apparently we have already sold over 1600! I wish there was an away loyalty scheme as I go to more away games than home - due to living t'up north... oh well i'm just feeling sorry for myself.

I still think they'll end up going on general sale. Not many maybe, but enough for those who make the effort as soon as they go on sale..

It's easy for me to be blase though, as a non-ST holder who already has a Slumdon ticket sorted...

Blasé indeed...

There was always going to be enough passes for the game available to ST holders, and so I’m astonished that so many people turned up to queue for hours yesterday in the heat given that there was only a trickle at the sales window today.

Dunno, maybe they just wanted a sun tan or were on some sort of detox/dehydration diet. Christ, what’s it going to be like when the tickets for Boxing Day go on sale if the club still haven’t sorted out some kind of priority system for our regular away supporters (and how simple is that, like you need the ticket stubs from x away games when demand is high?).

Either way the majority of our allocation has gone to ST holders, so the naughty ‘fringe’ element of our supporter base will just have to make trouble outside instead. And they will.

According to tiu, the reason why there were no on-line tickets available was so that the club / police could identify who bought specific tickets from a stack that was delivered to the club.

I can understand that say Luton away had a restricted capacity to the Oak Road of 1200 rather than 1500 capacity as the tickets were not pre-allocated.

But Cheltenham last season didn't seem to worry even though all tickets were numbered.

Also when non-attending season ticket holders can pass tickets on, and people probably won't sit/stand in their allocated space, what was the point?

Other than to leave exiles hanging on redial and then hold for hours, with no explanation from the club either.

It also seems stupid that the club don't post updates on the website about how many tickets have been sold. As, certainly after the initial rush (what was that about?!), people would know they could take their time. For example, today there might be 1,000 tickets left but as there has been no announcement, I bet every member was on the phone at 9am trying to get through in a mad panic which might be entirely unnecessary!

Pah! Our honourable admin must have seen my post and quickly acted!

I agree with this entirely. I go to loads of away games but struggle to get to more than five home games each year so a season ticket doesn't make sense for me. I feel I have been loyal enough to warrant a chance at buying a ticket for the Slumdon game. I can't stop feeling sorry for myself :(
