That's more like it.
Cue "CW is God" thread on the other side.

What a difference 45 minutes makes. If we had conceded a couple more goals, the calls for the manager's head would have grown and the whole atmosphere degenerated.
Also other teams at the bottom got a bit of a drubbing and so a gap should now appear.
A win against Barnet and let's go from there.......suddenly the world's a brighter place.

I want to type "Thank God for that" but that would raise too many other questions on this forum.
CW is now going to rant on about those fans who gave him stick on Saturday and he's probably got a point but I understand where that discontent comes from. I don't boo the team or hurl abuse but I do walk off in a discontented sulk when we perform as badly as that.
I know that confidence plays a big part in how teams perform but when a team has just lost five games on the spin then neither the team nor the management should be sheltered from the disappointment that they have just delivered.
Thankfully a brilliant result will change the mood and the Barnet game will probably attract a fantastic crowd on the back of it.
Please. please make it a good one.

I didn't go yesterday, Jerome, but I think regardless of performance/formation/team selection/substitutions the most impressive thing is the team is still behind the management. 1-0 down at half time away to the league leaders after 5 straight defeats and it would have been very easy for the players to give up. I can't have been alone in thinking at that point it would end up 3/4 nil and would have been delighted with a draw, let alone a win. Perhaps the post-match interview on saturday succeeded in taking the pressure of the players (although I still think he has to expect criticism after 5 defeats). Or if we're being less generous you could argue that the half time situation may have freed the players up given they had nothing to lose, but lets be generous.

Well that was a better journey home. Maclean was unbelievable don't know how he kept going, non stop. You could see something was going to happen purely from Maclean's input. Clist was amazing also. Wright seems to be going through the mill a bit, which is more the pitty as it means we have to put up with Futcher, still not impressed with him. Lets hope this is the start up we need.

What do you think Futcher did wrong yesterday?"OXUFC4Life" wrote:Wright seems to be going through the mill a bit, which is more the pitty as it means we have to put up with Futcher, still not impressed with him. Lets hope this is the start up we need.

Didn't he give away the free kick which led to their (all be it lucky) goal? And I think he also gave away a free kick which led to them hitting the cross bar, too? Although I may be wrong about the 2nd one of those."Baboo" wrote:What do you think Futcher did wrong yesterday?"OXUFC4Life" wrote:Wright seems to be going through the mill a bit, which is more the pitty as it means we have to put up with Futcher, still not impressed with him. Fair enough. It's just that I couldn't remember him being particularly weak. I thought he backed off a little bit too much in the first half but in the second half won some headers at the back that were really needed when we were under the cosh at the end. It wasn't only the excellent Harry Worley getting the ball away."recordmeister" wrote:Didn't he give away the free kick which led to their (all be it lucky) goal? Well he hasn't yet but I suppose there's still time..."A-Ro" wrote:CW is now going to rant on about those fans who gave him stick on Saturday and he's probably got a point but I understand where that discontent comes from. I always have a wry smile when supporters complain when a manager or player has a little dig back after being on the wrong end of a lot of stick. And the loudest complainers* are always those who have been most vitriolic themselves! Yep, it always** makes me smile.
* I don't mean you A-RO!** Except when it's Wayne Rooney complaining about loyal supporters at the World Cup. I didn't smile then and I'm not all that fussed about Ingerlund!
