First half worst performance under Wilder.
Second half playing against 10 part timers who had played on Saturday.
I stood up for the team last Tuesday - today I thought they were a shower of **ite.
And what do these new guys bring? Cains - seems to have no idea how to beat his man. Not ideal for a winger - if that's what he is. Grant ? He might have a reputation but it's what he does in an Oxford shirt that matters. And he ain't done a thing thus far. Midson must be wondering if it's worth hanging around.
OK it was one game but they owe us big time on Saturday against a team that are miles better than H&ampY.
Funny old game though so who knows. What I do know though is if we play like that we'll get absolutely tonked. Beano, Murray &amp Tonkin - needed back urgently. Potter too.

It really wasn't pretty was it? To be fair to Wilder the only changes he made to the starting XI compared to the excellent performance against Wimbledon were forced changes. With the benefit of hindsight I bet he'd rather have kept Wright/Day together at the back, Day and Creighton played like they'd never met (3 of the back 4 were playing offside for the first goal) and Wright didn't ever look comfortable at left back.

A worrying performance all round, the strikers are still struggling, we created a reasonable number of chances 2nd half but I lost count of how many times they were snatched at and hit over the bar. Deering for all his qualities isn't showing signs of being able to finish. Didn't really see that Cain added much and Grant looked rusty to me.

As ever it's the next game that counts. This game is the first time I've been seriously (aside from the usual oxford anxiety) worried that this side has lost it's way. They looked nervous, never comfortable and as a result didn't ever really dominate and bully the opposition, which is what has won us so many points in games like this one where the quality is lacking.

Wilder will earn his money and his reputation over the next few weeks. Constable and Tonkin are important. On the plus side, it doesn't feel like it but there's a long way to go this season (25%), time for Stevenage to start feeling uneasy too and plenty of time for form to change.

Agree with Isaac - not much choice for Wilder in terms of team selection, although Hargreaves was clearly not fit, so that if he wanted Chalmers to watch for 45 minutes, Chapman would have been a better choice.

No way of avoiding that it was horrible. During the better section at the beginning of the second half, we dictated the tempo of the game. After scoring, we seemed to ease up on this - why? Not for the first time this season, we are clearly in trouble when Creighton is left in charge of distribution.

The contrast with the Wimbledon game is the most striking one - it was only a couple of weeks ago!

Creighton and Batt were both dreadful, is Batt not fit? he didn't once try and beat anyone on the wing, he cut inside every time. Bulman wasn't up to his normal standard and nearly cost us a goal when a simple pass to Batt would have put us on the front foot.

Wright was appalling at left back and Wilder made the wrong choice in bringing Day off to correct it.

Grant and Cain were totally ineffective and even Matt Green wasn't the threat he normally is.

Where has this hoofball come from? all first half that's all we did.

The only one who should get a pay packet for that game is LSD and even he would have a deduction for not being able to hit a cow's arse with a banjo.

I don't think the ref was particularly bad, I think the pitch had a bigger effect on the game, it looks like they're playing on porridge, why were the sprinklers on before the game?

On the basis that Stevenage now look to be on fire (and I thought York were the main threat!) we have just used up our last 'get out of jail free' card.

Its still ours to throw away. If we win all our games from now on the league is ours...........yeah, right.............

The thing I don't understand is all the tinkering! We were top of the league but for some reason we have to 'freshen up' the squad. The odd change is inevitable, with injuries and fall-outs, but we seem to have a revolving door for players at the moment. Ridiculous.

Sorry, it has been multiple games against inferior part time opposiiton with much smaller budgets than us. And last night against only 10 inferior part time players, the star of whom was an Oxford reject.
