I'm going to Cumbria because I have problems
Just a thought - I phoned up OUFC to book the supporter's coach and it leaves at 11:30.
Just wondering if anyone has been that far with the carless masses? Do we get there early in order to get chippy tea and a pint of mild or does it literally take eight hours to get there? If that is the case I'm guessing if it goes to ET and pens then I guess we'll get back at circa 06:00?
Not that I'm complaining of course, why would I? I bring these things on myself.

Re:
The laptop is probably overheating. Some laptops come with rubbish cooling fans. I've got an HP laptop that does it. The answer is a USB cooling pad which cost £5-£10. Basically a plastic tray with external cooling fans to suck the heat from the laptop. Once I began using a cooling pad, the problems stopped."boris" wrote:If I'm allowed on the computer then I'm certainly up for an in-game chat. Alternatively I'll try and get the wireless connection to work and log in on my laptop, although that has a tendency to turn itself off for no real reason, usually when I'm in the middle of something long and unsaved.
You need to sort the problem though as if the laptop keeps shutting down improperly, you'll end up with bad sectors on your hard drive or possible damage to essential system files, which mgiht mean a re-install of Windows.

I would suggest that is a correct diagnosis. If you don't want to splash out on either repairs or a cooling solution, log on from your garden - should be nice and cool out there tonight!"GodalmingYellow" wrote:The laptop is probably overheating.

Shake your head. If there's a rattling sound, then they are probably loose."boris" wrote:I'm already ought of my depth here - how does one check and rectify this?"SmileyMan" wrote:
Another cause might be loose memory chips.

Shake it really hard and see if it rattles. If it doesn't then it must be something else. I think."boris" wrote:I'm already ought of my depth here - how does one check and rectify this?"SmileyMan" wrote:

Take the cover off and tap each chip lightly with a Toolmaster 1lb brass headed hammer, to stop sparks."boris" wrote:I'm already ought of my depth here - how does one check and rectify this?"SmileyMan" wrote:

Jason's (which is also fucked) is an IBM T42, while mine is a Lenovo 3000 N200.
Fix it please!
Plus some more techy questions:
what's the difference between a cooling pad (£5) and a cooling tray (£20) other than the name and the price?
On my PC the internet seems to be suffering severe problems - I often have to click on a link several times before a page loads, and they often almost load but then time out. I've tried reinstalling Firefox to no avail, and anyway it also happens in IE (which I only ever use to check whether a problem is peculiar to FF or not). Is this a PC problem, a Virgin problem, or is the internet dying before our very eyes?
