Nice one boris.

Martin Foyle

Edit - Sorry the original clue was wrong. Try this slightly more amusing version:

Equal Matt for weight. (8,9)
Obviously too difficult or nobody wants to play anymore.

Seeing as I didn't include a definition it's probably my fault so try this:

Equal Matt for weight on a Saturday. (8,9)

Blimey - how bad must the original clue have been? the second clue only delivered Match Day.

Equal Matt for weight =
Equal (Match) Matt (day) for (Pro) weight (gramme)

It was all there.

OK, to cut out the froth...
'andy player no longer around, around around, no longer player, Andy (11) { though you may still need the Blues left-back bit}

Meanwhile, an easier one if you prefer:
Where little Garden plays (8,4 )

Seems I have completely killed this thread so a further clue to tie all the answers together:

Hinchcliffe

Please can we keep this to OUFC players - my head hurts when I try and think who might play for other teams.

at last! The clue had an OUFC player in it, what more do you want?

Right, any one of you three want to set a clue - though I suppose it is Ancient's prerogative as he got the first one...

Please can you explain the hinchcliffe and goodison park answers.
I can understand hinchliffe around C gives hinchcliffe, former everton player = andy hinchcliffe. but why 2 Andy's in the clue? Ours was called Ben.
