Is it possible for a player to &quotbe being released&quot? I would have thought that either you are released or you aren't and there's no half way state of being released. I think what the usually grammatically correct boris meant was:

He wouldn't have been released by Brentford.

Personally I reckon that if we had kept him a butterfly would have flapped its wings in Beijing.
