Fat version? Have you seen an international rugby player recently?

Which code? The fat one or the fit one?

amen to that. at least it looks like we're capable of playing more than 60 minutes a match this time round.

I'm not a particular fan of rugby union or league but you have to admit that these days top rugby union players are fitter and certainly stronger than just about any other players in team sports.

Is Derbyshire now a Welsh county then?

Fitter? Er, no, and I may be obliged to post some photographs in the next couple of weeks which may demonstrate the point.

Going off on a tangent ever so slightly (someone stop me if it’s boring), in the battle for Wales in 1403 Derby was once under Welsh rule.

This was because after being proclaimed the Prince of Wales by his followers (largely as an insult to England's crown prince), Owen Glyndwr led what history has described as a guerrilla campaign against the English army. In the process he allegedly captured Wales with a fraction of the forces sent to stop him, only to lose it all when he tried to extend into England using more conventional tactics.

Apparently.

no, but glamorgan is. my family's always been divided down the middle in the rugby, so you had to choose sides at a young age - even if recent research revealed i only have 7/16ths right to pick the one i did...

Much as I love England, it's fun watching Ireland batter both the English bowlers and and the ICC around the park.

I presume O'Brien can look forward to a nice fat IPL cheque this summer. Good luck to him if so.

So, do you keep the Associates in the WC, or give Ireland Test status? The ICC can't have it both ways.

A second northern hemisphere Test team would do no harm at all to the game's expansion in Europe. Most tourists could tack a one-test Ireland series onto their England tours until they find their feet.

I thought that the Holland game was tense, a tie with India compulsive, but this afternoon was simply amazing. Even Geoff Boycott was full of praise for the Irish.

This is a long thread, and going back a bit there is a suggestion that Canada should be taken more seriously, which is as daft an idea as saying that Wales ought to have their own cricket team.
