Name of the new club

Post by Hog »

IF United should go under and need to re-form, what would you prefer to call the new club? Personally the AFC option leaves me even less inspired than The New Manor for the ground.

So if OUFC have to start again and assuming they could not use the current name what you go for?

I think we should go for something a bit more imaginative. How about Stormthunderers from the Waves of the Isis FC? or Oxford Olympians, if you want something a bit more alliterative?

One solution would be to add the year of formation to current name:-

Oxford United 2008

The new name may be the least of the problems faced because where we would play? Obviously the new club could not feed Kassam's insatiable desire
for money by paying the existing rent.

If I remember, correctly, Oxford City had to play at Cutteslowe Park after they were evicted from the White House Ground.

How about just 'United'. It would sort out all sorts of problems over on TiU.

I would prefer to retain the Oxford United with AFC in front, but the FA are fairly hard on such cases, especially if football creditors have not been satisfied on the demise of the original club.

I wouldn't mind Headington United, but we don't play in Headington anymore.

We could always go for Oxfordshire United.

Oxford Phoenix, obviously.

Oh, hang on, there would have to be some evidence of a rise first. Perhaps we could start off with Oxford Hopefuls and see how we go.
