I haven't got a problem with Baldock's arrival at all, especially if Brindley's not staying beyond his initial month. Though will that be 6 different starting right backs used this season now (Riley, Hunt, Mullins, Long, Brindley, Baldock)?

The other signings seem less focussed though. Roofe and Balmy both seem to be similar players and Roofe's only on a month's loan again. We've got another keeper in but Clarke and Crocombe are still in situ. Appleton announced that a free agent midfielder had signed on Tuesday, but apparently he hasn't now. And now he says he still wants a couple more players in during the next week or so.

At least he's acknowledging that we're in a relegation fight now and need to get to 50 points as soon as possible. Amen to that.

Having read that article, along with the ones on the Oxford and Torquay website I'm just more confused. The article on the Conference website implies that he moved back to Oxford on loan and has now moved to Torquay on loan, and the one on the TUFC website doesn't even mention a transfer, "A predatory forward with Jarrow Roofing in the Northern League Division One, Campbell came to the attention of Oxford scouts and immediately impressed the League 2 outfit by scoring in a tremendous win at Plymouth over the Christmas period."

I doubt whether we'll ever see Campbell in an Oxford shirt again but I'd love to know if he is currently an Oxford player or not.

I worry slightly about the legalities of who is loaning who to who etc, we don't want to end up getting fined or points docked if we've done something wrong. but putting that aside then in one sense it makes sense, if you look at it in the same way as us sending our youngsters out to these upper non-league sides to get a bit of experience at a higher level then they had been playing at - in other words we are looking at him from a very long-term perspective, rather than someone who is going to break into the side straight away.
Anyway, it's Tuesday lunchtime, shoultn't we have another loanee in place by now?

Reading that, it sounds like we've really shafted Jarrow Roofing. They agreed to cancel the player's contract so we could sign him outside the transfer window, presumably on a gentlemen's agreement that we'd pay up in the summer - only for us to change our minds, offer him back to them for nowt and now loan him out elsewhere. Whilst the article gives us the facts, it doesn't give us the information behind them - which is the really interesting bit!

Hoever if we stay up we could have a talented young team next year who won't have cost us much and will will fetch a lot of money in the transfer market. Wilder's loans were generally old lags from Oldham reserves, signed purely for the short term.
