Boscombe Boot

Post by Hog »

The new season is nearly upon us and so are the summer holidays so I'll post the first Boot a bit early to give people who are going to be away a chance.

Most points win.

1. Name the OUFC starting back four. 1pt each

2. Name three OUFC players who are subbed. If you think less than three then fill any gaps with 'None' - you must state the word 'None' though or it won't score. You can use more than one 'None' if you wish. 1pt for each correct name, 2pts for each correct 'None'.

3. Name three OUFC substitutes who are used in the game. If you think less than three then fill any gaps with 'None' - you must state the word 'None' though or it won't score. You can use more than one 'None' if you wish. 1pt for each correct name, 2pts for each correct 'None'.

4. Name the first player to score for OUFC in this match. Correct name scores 3pts, correct None (meaning OUFC finish with no goals) scores 2pts, Bournemouth og scores 1pt.

TB. Total attendance (no duplicates, if a tie then earlier post wins)

Never done one of these before, but new season and all that...

1. Batt / Raynes / Wright / Capaldi
2. Chapman / Rigg / Constable
3. Smalley / Heslop / JPP
4. Rigg
TB. 5103

NB. For all the careful planning around 'None', what about 'Player signed in the next two weeks'?

You can edit your choices any time before the team is announced.

Mmm, sorry Q1 was a bit dull in the end as the back four pretty much picked itself although when I set it I didn't realise most of the other contenders would be long-term injuries.

Q4 was a little ambiguous as I didn't think about penalties after a 0-0 draw but I'm going to mark it in the spirit it was set in that I meant the first goal scored in the actual match rather than a shoot-out.

That means GY and Geoff each score two points for saying No Scorer to finish level on eight points with Yankee Clipper who made all his points before Q4.

So on the tie-break the winner is ... Geoff!

Bugger, it was even more ambiguous than I thought! I see the point you're trying to make Mooro and it's something I'll bear in mind should I ever set Boot questions about substitutions for a game which may, potentially, involve extra time again!

I'm sticking with the original result as the substitutions were made, albeit mostly in extra time.

Sorry!

Hey, no worries...I just got a bit distracted by your comment at the top of the hat thread....it would have been a storming win though, even after somehow mentally replacing Michael Raynes with Jordan Rhodes and sticking him into defence........(oh, and picking McGinty).........duh!
