Re: incoing players rumours
I suppose today's signings combined with that of Joe Riley shows the policy of playing our own young players rather than someone else's has been put on the back burner then. Wow. That must be the most negative reaction ever to (on paper) two very exciting signings. but we've had plenty of poor expe...

Re: incoing players rumours
I think we have to accept that three managers have taken looks at Marsh and not trusted him (yet) to be good enough. I certainly wouldn't be happy if he was our 3rd/4th choice.
I get pretty excited when I see we've signed a young, raw, ex-Eng youth international.

Re: incoing players rumours
Cutting through the endless rowing to actually comment on players signed, I'm happy with Brown as he is the first player we've signed that I do not have any reservations about, either because I haven't heard of them (Riley and Long) or have mixed feelings about (Collins, Hylton). From what I have se...
Re: Wow
Just the kind of bold, impressive act we needed to rescue our summer. If this is backed up with cash for players, as surely it must be, we can look forward to the next season with great hope. I couldn't care less if Waddock was awfully nice about the fans, he failed his (admittedly short) audition a...
Re: Tinkerman
As regards our squad, Lynn was dev squad and Davies probably on a low contract and presumably therefore on very small wages. Not enough to pay for even one replacement. Also Williams was heavily subsidised by Fulham. So 3 lost players (of which Williams was worth almost 2 players) which will pay fo...
Re: Tinkerman
Since GW arrived there hasn't been a single indicator of better days ahead. I think there have been a number of indicators of better days ahead. They include the 90 minute performance at Plymouth, 20 minutes on the last day before Williams lost his head and we were in complete control, the release ...

What we were prepared to pay are the key words here. I wonder what level of pay cut we 'offered' himSWA wrote:I've heard on good authority that Eastleigh's pay offer almost doubled what we were prepared to pay Beano.

Re: James Constable
If his salary was prohibitive and not befitting a player who has not set L2 alight, then fair enough, although it seems painful that we were reportedly turning down six-figure sums for him in previous years only to see him go on a free. But are we really confident that we will get (at least) three s...

Re: James Constable
A great shame - whatever his limitations (and there were a few) no-one gave more and he would have been a useful member of the squad to have around next season. I hope he will be considered as a club legend in years to come.

Re: Squad 2014/2015
As far as I understand it Wright doesn't have to agree a new deal, the club have simply exercised their right to take up the extra year. Beano, of course, has to agree but given all the positive noises he was coming out with during the season it would be a surprise if he didn't (unless he has been o...
