If Joey's short of cash because he spunked most of his not inconsiderable wages at the bookies, I've got little sympathy.
Loyal servant though Joey was, there are far more deserving recipients of a testimonial - players who took less out of the club in the first place, and gave just as much back. Dave Langan and Les Phillips spring to mind.

Joey had been at Abingdon Town for the last couple of seasons but apparently age and injury have caught up with him this season so he has not appeared for a number of months.
