I'm sure everyone on here would wish Appleton the best and a speedy recovery from what is - for all the men reading this, esp - a nasty illness. Best of luck, Michael .

I had one of those time hop reminders that six years ago yesterday we were on "the best ever" pre-season tour in Austra to play Wiener Neustadt. Initially a lot of us didn't believe Appleton and Ashton could get league 2 cloggers to play classy football, and there was no "Plan B" culminating in a 5-1 thrashing away at Cambridge United on tv. From then on, we signed some decent players on loan and on permanent deals who have gone on to play at much higher levels. The Austria pre-season was fans and the club as one, enjoying an afternoon in Neustadt town square followed by the match, then back to the square and later to the bar (cluskys?) where the players and staff all turned up as well. We went on to get promotion that season, and that Appleton team and promotion was a great time to be a fan.

Best wishes for a healthy recovery Mr Appleton.
