Youth team have pulled off a commanding 3-1 win away to Southend in the FA Youth Cup - goals from Humphreys, Roberts and Ashby - to set up a trip to Swansea in the next round......

So which side will Snakey want to win???

Strictly neutral, but the 'make the ball do the work' ethos exists as much at U18 level as it will do at the Etihad on Sunday.

An excellent win for the Youth Team again.

I would suspect that we should have very little hope at Swansea but another good run this year.

Not at all true, and you have to keep hoping! Swansea City currently have the highest possession stats in the Prem but are still only 10th. It’s a balance between effective hoofball and goading the opposition to a level where they lose their formation partly through being frustrated at not getting a touch on the ball for ages.

This article explains the dilemma much better than I can - http://www.wearepremierleague.com/

So really, REALLY chuffed with that result against a much better financed academy team. Now keep it going and stuff Krapdiff in the next round! And take note IL and CW, it just goes to show that given some patience you CAN win things with kids...

Stunning result particularly after losing our first choice keeper after 5 seconds!

Not sure about your dig at IL though Snake - hasn't this been one of his aims all along?(well, since we got the funding back on returning to L2)

Actually, it was our third choice keeper (U16 Barney Martin) replaced by the fourth choice (U17 Academy keeper Rory Golden). The two scholar keepers Josh Hill and Eddie Cavenagh have both been injured for pretty much the entire season so far....
THe midfield and frontline are mainly second years, but the defence deserves extra mention, with two first years and an U16 player in there....

Wow. A stunning result. I can only assume that Swansea have the resources to spend significantly more money on youth development than us, so it shows how far our youth team has progressed since IL came on the scene.

Well done IL, Chris Allen and all of the coaches. With the excellent recent results despite the injuries to the first team, and the youngsters coming through, this is even more promising for the future.

Wow! Even better than we thought! I hope the club takes them for a Nando's or something!

Ah! Just seen the video on Player! "Fish and chips, Kentucky, anything ..." said Chris Allen!

Yeah, like his “aim all along” is to buy the Stadium. But at least this may start to change/reinforce his ways/thoughts as Rent Boy is already boasting about how he got the costs down at his other club Up North and maybe even making a yearly profit on #oufc if we get to League I (though he's clearly not in tune with wage structures even at that level). And by the way - Snakes don’t dig, we just mind our own business on the ground looking upwards some of the time.

Merry Christmas, Dave, and I’ll raise a glass to you and everyone who is stupid enough to be addicted to footy at any level and wish Us all a happy 2014, especially come May :P
