The Boot is dying and no sign of Old Ab. In haste, here is a quick and dirty Cascade for Saturday

(a) How many of Kitson, Smalley and Constable will play (start or sub)
(b) What will the result be (Home-Draw-Away)?
(c) How many goals will Oxford score?
(d) Will the first goal be scored before 30 minutes?
(e) Will the last goal be scored after 80 minutes?

TB Crowd.

Hmmm, well I seem to have won that by default, since everyone else assumed that all of Smalley, Constable, Kitson would play. Hey ho. Anyone want to make a rationalised case that Smalley "played" by sitting on the bench?

In fairness you said 'play' and he didn't so it is, indeed, your problem!

Bugger - I thought I'd won one at last because I had interpreted your question to mean that a sub's place was sufficient. I could engage a team of lawyers to take this further but Hog appears to have provided the 'Man on the Clapham Omnibus' view and so I await your next test Sir!

In fairness to you RR it's not my decision any more as AC has superceded me as Bootmeister so if you wish to appeal and makes things awkward for him by causing him to adjudicate on a point in which he could be the beneficiary then I'm happy to sit back and watch ...!!!

I'll require a detailed and fully referenced semantic argument on the concept and interpretation of "play" as a starting point.
