What a v v strange league this is indeed.
Inconsistency is rife throughout and, if anything, our own inconsistency is just consistent with every other team in the league!

Quite and there are so many 'if onlys', if only we had beaten York and Chesterfield at home, we'd be right in the mix.

It's also coming down to the wire in the conference with Kidderminster grabbing a 90||2 winner at Newport last night, but Wrexham-Mansfield postponed due to waterlogged pitch.
Code: Select all
Kidderminster 39 30 74
Mansfield 37 28 74
Wrexham 38 33 72
Newport 35 20 66
Grimsby 37 24 64
Forest Green 39 17 61
Macclesfield 37 4 58

One of the best things about that table is that Luton are a further 4 points behind...

BUT Newport are having to play every other day at the moment to fit matches in so are likely to drop points they should normally take, while Forest Green (as first reserve) are having a horrendous run of form themselves, so unfortunately we cannot rule out someone lower down sneaking into the last spot!!!

It's only this week that Newport have a tough schedule having played last night, they now play tomorrow and Saturday. Beyond that, they are pretty much the same as the others.
10 points and 3 places is a big gap to make up in 9 games!

The bottom of the league is looking much more interesting than the top at the moment. Before last night's games there were 6 teams covered by a single point, and it's still very tight despite (or because of) Accy, Plymouth, Torquay and Barnet all winning.

One of the even better things about that table is that we're not on it.
However annoying this year is, I'll never forget the four years of purgatory that was our conference adventure.

With only two promoted the magic number is of course 5th place, meaning usurping Grimsby, considerably further ahead of Loo-town. I can't believe how far they've fallen, and am also very pleased they've taken longer about getting back than we have.
I would be nothing short of AMAZED if they nick 5th place.

But they will come back at some stage.
I just hope we've managed to progress by then to avoid them.
