It reads:-

JUSTIN Richards is set to join Oxford United on a month's loan today, subject to paperwork being completed.

The out-of-favour Burton Albion striker has been a fixture on the bench for the Brewers this season.

He has scored only one goal, in the 6-2 home win over Wimbledon in August.

Richards has slipped down the pecking order, with Calvin Zola being recognised as the club's first-choice striker, whether they are playing 4-4-2 or 4-5-1.

When two have been played up front, first Matt Paterson and, now that he has regained match fitness, Billy Kee, have been preferred ahead of Richards.

The 32-year-old is on a two-year contract at Burton which ends in the summer.

Oxford have found themselves without their main striker, James Constable, for a spell after his appeal against a red card was rejected, leaving him with a four-match ban.

&quotJustin has not had an awful lot of opportunities lately and this will, hopefully, do him some good and give him the chance get some games,&quot said manager Gary Rowett.

Yeah I saw a tweet from @swsportsnews saying he's joining on loan. I'm not too keen on him after he celebrated his goals in front of the East Stand last season.

On the other hand, unlike Josh Parker, he has actually scored goals...

Despite being named as a substitute Richards has not appeared for Albion in the Cup this year so he won't be cup-tied, but he would have had to be registered by midday today to be elligable to play tomorrow, and that's assuming Burton give OUFC permission to play him in the Cup, they're still in the competition themselves. So I think it's unlikely that he'll solve the striking problem for tomorrow.

Now confirmed:-

Justin Richards 1 month loan deal.

Lewis Montrose 4 month loan deal.

And Josh Parker contract until May.

Not unhappy about this - Montrose looks like a good signing, Richards will be a good stop gap, isn't cup tied and has a reasonable scoring record for a big man - not many of those available for a month I'd have thought.

Still not sure about Parker, CW sees something in him though and given he can play on the wing or through the middle (supposedly) will help with the numbers.

Well done the club for getting it sorted so quickly.

...what, hasnt come from our youth setup?

CAnnot really remember Richards from before, but pretty happy from the sound of it, no idea about Montrose, but just hoping young Tyrone doesnt get forgotten in all this - maybe not tomorrow, but I hope he gets some game time soon

Just a thought, why are the Gills so happy to farm out someone who has played 18 times this season?

We are due to play a few teams snapping at the Gills heals over the next few weeks?

But 4 months is odd.

Doesn't Jan to April take us to the end of the (regular) season?
