Tinpot Paintpot Boot

Post by Hoglette »

1. Name the Oxford starting line-up. 1pt for each player who also started v Gillingham, 2pts for each player who came on as a sub v Gillingham, 3pts for each un-used sub v Gillingham, 4pts for each player not in the squad v Gillingham

2. Name the 5 players on the Oxford bench (and use None to fill any gaps if you think there will be less than 5). 1pt for each correct name, 2pts for each correct None

3. Will Oxford make a first half substitution? Yes/No. 1pt for correct answer

4. Will Oxford score in the first half? Yes/No. 1pt for correct answer

5. Will Oxford score in the second half? Yes/No. 1pt for correct answer

TB. Total attendance. Nearest wins, if still a tie then earlier poster wins

Question - is the 'x' number of players from the previous league game in the starting line-up rule in place for this one (seem to remember needing to be 8 from the 16/18 named on the Saturday need to start, but may be wrong) or was that an old Conference Cup rule?

1) My preferred line-up would be (rather than what I think CW will do):
Crocombe, Boateng, Lynn, Worley, Wright, Chapman, Leven, JFC, Potter, Beano, Marsh
2) Clarke, Long, Capaldi, CRaddock, Rigg
3) No
4) Yes
5) Yes

Well, good luck scoring that!

Clarke, Boateng Worley Wright O'Brien, Capaldi, Chapman, Heslop, Rigg, Constable, Craddock
Crocombe, Foster-Caskey, Marsh, Leven, um, does that leave anyone?
Yes, bound to get another injury, aren't we?

The match is still going but the point scoring is complete and I'm afraid there is controversy!

At first glance the winner is Geoff on 21 but his post time shows as 7:18pm* (but 8:18pm as I scroll down on this thread - how does that happen?) both of which times are after the teams were announced on RadOx. I think, therefore, that Geoff has to be excluded but I'll be happy to consider a protest if it's submitted by 21:00 Wednesday. Hoglette also made an edit after the teams were announced so she is booted out of her own Boot!

GY and joepoolman each scored 20 with Joe taking it on the tie-break.

*I did a test post (since deleted) to check the clock and it seems to be real time

Isn't the easy answer to simply ask Geoff what time he posted his entry?

It would have been 10 or quarter past seven. I hadn't heard any team news but it may have already been announced so I'm happy to be disqualified if necessary.

Thanks Geoff. I don't doubt you for a moment but I think I'm going to stick with my original decision as the team had already been announced and if I let it pass this time then it sets a precedent for any future team selection-based Boots. So with that in mind there is now a rule that any future questions involving team selection must be answered at least 1 hour 15 minutes before kick off whether or not the setter remembers to include a reminder on the day.

Although I don't think I know him, as compensation I'll be happy to buy Geoff a pint at a home game if he can find me (on production of photo ID, a utility bill and a password that he can email to me so all you chancers don't track me down and claim to be Geoff!). I'll be glad when my reign as Bootmeister is over!

Over to you Joepoolman.
