Re: Have I Got Old News For You
Quite a few Oxford connections in this story about Shaun Derry's time at Portsmouth.

[Shaun Derry, Graham Rix, Courtney Pitt]
Quite unbelievable finish to the article though by Derry...
‘Perhaps he’d reflect on his managerial career and might say that had he adopted some different characteristics into his management style then he may have had different outcomes at different places.
‘But you are what you are – and, for me, Graham Rix is first and foremost a thoroughly decent human being.’

The Northeast journal recalls Ossie Ardiles's short tenure as boss at Newcastle, which ended with a 5-2 defeat to Oxford United.

It's probably been asked and answered several times before, but how often has an opposition manager been "sacked in the morning" after a match against us?

Re: Have I Got Old News For You
I seem to recall that the London Road End were all let out onto the pitch at the end of that match for some kind of post-Hillsborough safety drill. Though I'm not sure that's relevant to the ref blowing up early (to which I was oblivious, I think).slappy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 12:03 pm Justin Horton remembers a game being blown for time four minutes early. I think he often contributes to the Guardian Knowledge with Oxford United related trivia. Does he (or did he) post on here, or was involved in fanzines etc? I recognise the name.Radley Rambler wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 12:22 pmAn article about the aforementioned Mr Ed.
