Apparently Wasps need a minimum 14,000 capacity stadium by 2014 to stay in top flight....
....and Oxford is always the first place mentioned in terms of where the club will move to (or at least is here in wonderful HW)....
... could it be that we (OUFC) have missed the chance to buy the stadium as FK decides to hang on to it to make money from the rugby (whether it is he or someone else who actually buys them)????

How tricky would it be to squeeze in 1500 extra seats like those at Edgar Street?

Might come in handy for Us one day too...

I think you've missed the point of FK. He is an asset stripper who shys away from investing in anything. Wasps have no assets ergo I can't see FK wanting any involvement at all.

As for FK building a fourth stand to attract the rugger buggers, no chance. He won't even pay professionals to maintain the pitch or turn up the day before our biggest games of the festive season to check the pitch to see if it is playable (or to make it playable).

If he doesn't care about filling the stadium on Boxing Day, why the hell should be care about filling it on any other day, with any other sport?

Presumably the terms of our ground lease would not allow FK to rent the ground to another sports club for regular use anyway, even if he were to own that other club, would it? I would certainly hope not.

On another point, why on earth will ALL Premiership Rugby grounds have to have a minimum 14,000 capacity when only ONE club is currently getting any crowds in excess of that figure?

Getting a rugby club in, particularly a top flight one would be a no lose situation for Kassam - if he could get the rugby team playing Friday or Sunday, it is double use of the stadium with not much additional cost.

Not sure if there are RU rules about clubs staying in their county now, and also whether they have to have first dibs on use of stadium. I can't imagine OUFC would be happy if most of their Saturday home games got moved around.

especially when out international side have gone out of their way over the last few weeks to drag the image of the sport back down to the gutter.....

IL still has Sale doesnt he, so he wouldnt be allowed to take on Wasps as well would he, even if he wanted to?
Just interested in whether this could affect anything to do with OUFC in some way - particularly regarding the stadium

'Fraid it does. The only obligation Firoka would need to adhere to is to “maintain the Pitch within the Stadium to the standard required by a reasonable professional football club

Sale?
Wigan Warriors are a rugby league club.
This is nothing to do with Lenagan anyway.
Would Kassam like a joint tenant, increased usage of facilities, more booze consumed, more moolah ?
Course not

Well, they've got to make their tedious sport interesting somehow.

If Kassam had wanted that (more people, more turnover, more booze sales) he'd have initially invested in OUFC to move Us up the leagues to a place where we'd get much larger attendances. But what did he do? Give players one year contracts and not invest in things like training facilities. (isn't there a story about the players turning up at the ground each day as they didn't know where training was to be held).

Not a great track record for wanting to invest in the future of the stadium, is it?

There is an old saying, something along the lines of “if you want to make a small fortune out of a football club then start with a large one
