PHILLISKIRK

Post by OUFC4eva »

Did you know that Danny Philliskirk's dad scored
a hat-trick for Peterborough United at London Road
against United in September 1993 - I was there to see the horror unfold!

IF DAN IS ONLY HALF AS GOOD AS HIS DAD I WILL BE DELIGHTED
FROM REPORT OF BANBURY GAME HE APPEARS TO KNOW WHERE THE NET
IS .
GOOD TO SEE CLIST ON WAY BACK AS WELL

THINGS LOOK GOOD TO ME AS FAR AS NEW SEASON IS CONCERNED

Half way down the left hand side of the keyboard you will find the Caps Lock key, yours has obviously been set to on by mistake.

My lasting memory of that day was hearing a couple of local coppers at half time, at the back of the away stand, singing &quotgoing down, going down, going down&quot - believing that Oxford's 1-0 half-time lead would herald a home defeat and be a sign of things to come for Posh. Sadly, Philliskirk had other ideas.

Philly Jr looked useful last night. Good awareness, nice touch, ability to finish. Probably means he'll spend his whole month sat on the bench...

Here's the Chelsea perspectiveon his loan deal. Makes for reasonably interesting reading.

Somebody please show this to CW before he makes a big mistake.

But Wilder saw him as a kid at Oldham, so he knows what he is like ...

presumably because the article suggests that he will succeed best in a different role to that in which Wilder indicated that he was going to use him in (based presumably on his memories of him as a kid)

All conjecture of course

If, as that article which seem to be written by someone who knows what he is on about, is correct, he will do well to dislodge Beano up front and any of our more experienced midfielders in the centre. Perhaps it is just a way of seeing what he is about with a view to keeping him for the season as a back up to Beano/Midson?

Are you being rather disparaging towards CW here? I would have expected him to have done his homework and know what the player has done and not done and have formed a view of what he can do that perhaps he has not yet done.

The article makes the link between what Wilder is expecting of the lad and the fact that he's not an out and out striker any more. If Wilder gets it right then brilliant if he gets it wrong then it will be as bad for DP as it will be for the club. I would hate to think that the decision has been made solely on what he knows from the Oldham days, a lot can change in the three years between 16 and 19. Mind you that's still miles better than the basis on which we signed Kristaps Grebis.

The lad is referred to as 'a bit withdrawn', or somesuch, and he may be only 19, but presumably he can talk. Even in the directive management culture of the dressing room, I presume he could explain where and how he is used to playing.

It may be, however, that CW thinks he can convert him back into an out-and-out striker, and so 'find' a player who would probably attract more attention if were seen as a striker.
