For the first time in around a decade the Mighty U's look in great shape-
on and off the field.

From Chairman, manager, backroom staff and players the Club is geared for further success following the Triumphant scenes at Wembley a few weeks ago.

I'm confident that CW has the ability and drive to push us on another notch. He has the full backing of Kelvin Thomas and significantly the owners Woodstock plc have stated their intent to remain.

What can possibly go wrong?! Ok, lots of things, but i think our luck has changed. At long last.

Me too, only because that would mean my optimism was proven to be- Optimistic?!

I think I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic for the coming season. There is talk on at that &quotother&quot place of a mid-table finish being a bad result, but I'm not so sure. Of cause I want us to push on and be fighting for promotion again, but I think we need to keep the fundamental future stability and success of the club at the front of our minds ahead off momentary joy.

I don't think that we're likely to challenge for an automatic promotion place, but I think we could be in the mix for the play offs (bearing in mind that we'll probably drop out of them after losing at Shrewsbury in the last game of the season, most likely to be overtaken by them).

The teams that look to have built strong squads include, sadly, Wycombe, Bradford, Gillingham, Vale, and Chesterfield. Teams that I think will struggle are Accrington, Southend, Barnet, Morecambe, Hereford, and Stevenage (based on our experience of Ashton, Yemi and Sills as League players), while teams like Crewe, Stockport, Bury, Lincoln, and Torquay are likely to be mid-table at best. This leaves us, Burton, Cheltenham, Aldershot, Northampton, Rotherham and the Shrews to fight it out for whatever play-off places are left after the top challengers have sorted out their own positions.

Of course, that's all speculative bollocks and will probably bear no resemblence to teams' actual finishing positions, but it's kinda fun.

And anyone who wants to agree or disagree with Boris still has four days left to enter the W.I.L.D.ers League.

But an extra week to show their knowledge of the WHOLE League, some cups and Scotland too in the 19th season of Dreamers League! You've got to be in it to win it!

A DECENT START IS THE MAIN THING AND NOT TO PANIC IF WE HAVE A FEW PROBLEMS TO BEGIN WITH .

To finish mid table in our first season back, would not be a disaster as some elsewhere are saying. Personally I think a play off push is not beyond us. Stevenage imo will do well, if only at the start and possibly fall away somewhat. Gillingham for me the team to beat. Love to go to Wycombe later this month and put one over them. 3-0 like in '96 would be great. Anyway, onward and upwards with the Benidorm Ox!!!

A steady start is crucial. Draw at Burton and a win in the first home game is really the best we can expect and hope for. Certainly the squad is looking good with several options and the supporters are on a high. But don't forget that dreadful start we had at Barrow, we all went up there with so much expectancy and came home dreadfully disappointed.

mid-table'll do me fine right now. in fact, not being even discussed in connection with any kind of 'relegation scrap' at any stage during the season, including the phrase 'in danger of being sucked into...', will do me fine.

if we have managed that by christmas, then no doubt i'll be banging the table demanding promotion and telling anyone who'll listen that the play offs are the least we should expect...
