Oxford Away on Tuesday

Post by Snake »

Oooo, first test of the new season coming up. I hope the competition is better than the slaughter at this warm up.

Of course it will be. They've got Lee Steele.
14 goals and no player scored more than 2.

I can't wait for tomorrow evening's game.

I'm all excitable like a small child waiting for Christmas morning.

I know all about misplaced optimism during pre-season - but I just can't help it.

This will, of course, be an ideal opportunity for those who have pledged money towards Declan's sponsorship to hand me their money (if they haven't already done so).

2-1 loss but Green, Creighton, Potter and Midson all impressed.

Thought Deering didn't work up front and Chapman, Carutthers and Murray lost the ball too often.

Pre season friendlies mean nowt.
Thought Oxford City looked good for their level. Well organised &amp Lee Steele can still play a bit.

When we bothered to pass it around we looked competent. Second half too much long ball. But as I said pre-season friendlies mean nowt.

It is easily forgotten that City are only 3 non league divisions below us, so we shouldn't be expecting a vast gap in playing ability. 3 non league divisions is not the same as Premier v league 2 by any means.

As Baboo says, pre-season friendlies mean little, especially the first one.

I was standing next to some city fans for a bit of the first half. Couldn't quite get over how much they hated us!

very very odd people. Didn't seem to know much about United but knew lots about football. I didn't know they existed.

Two. Southern League Premier is tier 7.

But not the money we bring to their club. Wonder how many home league games they will need before they have has as many through their turnstile as went through last night?

Seems like it was indeed better opposition..

No wonder Wilder doesn’t want to play them again – especially if all those United fans turn up to watch an away game.

Maybe we’ll have better luck in Morton, where only the weird will be watching, or against Rangers, where no one is allowed to watch.

Roll on York City @ home.
