Wouldn't it be fun to speculate?

John Hollins for me. He is not in a job and has no previous connections with OUFC. Did well with Crawley and Weymouth.

Not on this list but John Ward appears to me to be a realistic choice.
Might just be within our budget and has local connections.

However I think Hollins will probably get the job and my outside bet is Phil Gilchrist.

Gilly's not doing a good job at Woking, the fans aren't keen on his style.

What's Aldo doing these days?

I went for Rosenior. He had Torquay playing some very nice football and produced a side based on very little money.

Has anybody on TiU suggested Ron Atkinson yet?

Is this who should we get...or who will we get? I guess that they are two very different things!

As the poll says, it is &quotWho should we get?&quot

After a few votes have been cast, I was going to put up a &quotWho will we get?&quot poll.

You all know which way I voted.

However I would be delighted if Rosenior got the job.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Gilly gets it. Personally I would be very disappointed with that decision.

Hopefully comments like &quotWe need someone who has experience at non-league level, or getting out of the non-league level,&quot from Thomas indicate that we're not going to do anything as stupid as offering Mickey or Gilly, or Mike Ford or some other unqualified oldboy the job which I agree would be a step in the wrong direction.

That quote's from http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 759440.stm incase y'all haven't seen the story.

The prospect of most of these named contenders depresses me in equal measure.

None of the above for me. There are two I'd be very happy to see at Oxford, first choice being Lee Sinnott, who was outrageously successful at non-league level (although I will concede that he blotted his copybook somewhat at Port Vale), and the second being Alex Inglethorpe who laid the foundations of a successful side at Exeter (although whether he could be persuaded from his cushy job at Totnum remains to be seen).

Steve Cotterill might be another but do we have the clout to appeal to him anymore?

I don't like any of those named on the list.

Keep Lewis and bring in Merrit and Ford.

A quick glance at the odds and a search into their backgrounds revealed boht of these two as interesting options to me also. Both have strong youth tendancies, which obviously appeals to me, and both are young but have some experience and success at this level.
Sinnott maybe jumped too high too quickly, but rumours of a faction in the board undermining his efforts, may explain some of the disappointment there, but who knows.
Inglethorpe clearly did a job at Exeter (perhaps one of the more comparable conference clubs to us) although opted to move to coach at Spurs so may not be ready to risk that to come here.
