...or is this season a bit boring?
Lots of crap rumours about ground sharing, going bust and, er, other stuff that has been too boring to even remember. None of it founded in fact and all just re-badged rumours from years gone-by. It's like watching Hollyoaks the same old plot lines (murders, people turning gay, teenage sex) done by new actors.
BORING.

It's striking to me how few people want to discuss the football. I've not been to all the games but it seems worth saying that it's been pretty good on the whole - we've got wingers, a good supply of enterprising attackers, a couple of genuinely good players in Foster and Murray - we're not far off from real playoff contenders. But somehow the urgency has gone, maybe we've collectively accepted being a mid-table side who are reasonable at home.

A glance at the table reveals a side six points and six places off the relegation zone: eight points and ten places off the play-offs.

Foster - yes.
Murray ??? Well imho it does not show in the way he has been playing a lot of the time. A disappointment.
Genuinely good players - You fail to mention Sam Deering.

I hope it's just the weather, everyone sounds so depressed.
Before last Saturday, we been putting a few decent performances together. With positive thought and a few pints it is not so difficult to imagine a play off place.
The advent of Sam Deering has been great too.

Yes, Sam Deering is another real highlight. But there we go again... our most exciting player being a young, youth team grad who plays on the wing... When is Dirty Den coming back to Eastenders?!?

I am not too sure that the season is boring- oufc is like a soap opera.
The football itself is much less exciting than all of us would have expected and hoped for.
We occasionally play good football (Cambridge, Rushden), but too often the entertainment has been poor. As with the last few years (except maybe when we came second in The Conference) we have underachieved.
Some of us I guess are maybe coming round to Pena's way of thinking and moving toward being entirely disenchanted.

It’s certainly not been the best of seasons so far, and it does run the risk of being as bad as last season eventually turned out to be unless the following things happen…
a) FA Trophy – barring getting to Wembley then I think it’s really nothing more than a distraction. And even if we do get there it’s just some cash in the bank and a good day out for us.
b) FA Cup – If we win at Dorchester and then get past Torquay then we’ll have some prestige and maybe a bit of serious money to make Ian Lenagan’s wallet happy. After that anything could happen and that could change our season, or at least make it better than last season.
c) Division V – We need to seriously challenge for a play off place rather than have to keep saying to ourselves “wow, we’re only ‘x’ points off the play-offs, so if we win the next ‘x’ games things will get really interesting

Don't any of our players get caught drink-driving or have fights in nightclubs or say unwise things about the club on Facebook or anything?

Indeed, weÔÇÖve not even had a decent bit of controversy recently. In fact Mark Wright and that black referee may have been the last bit of newsworthy stuff since we dropped off the bottom of the pools coupon.

Do pools coupons still exist? I haven't seen one for years.

Indeed. But perhaps in the same way as fanzines still exist, in a virtual afterlife.

julian alsop and banana, jefferson louis in cars, jefferson louis' arse on tv... they've all happened since mark wright got himself in trouble. and nick merry was charged with drink-driving, but he was found not guilty in court.
