I disagree. The malaise at the club goes far deeper than the management of the team. It's those over and above Patto that need to take a long hard look at themselves.

Without wishing to sound like a snob or killjoy, is this substantially different to the other thread you started, which is currently four posts further down? So far you've made seven posts to the board, of which three were starting new topics, all of which have been attacks on Patterson and 'Pattoistas', which appears to be your word for anyone who doesn't share your view.

One of the things that I like about this place is that it's a little more sanguine than other boards that could be mentioned. Also, in keeping with board tradition, you have missed a capital 'P' and an 'o' in 'Patterson', 'Reaper' is misspelled, and you appear to have accidentally pressed the 'Caps Lock' key before typing the last sentence.

Its incredibly hard to pinpoint exactly what is wrong at OUFC. This rot has been going on for so long now, through many Chairmen and many, many managers.

No mention of anything on Radio Oxford this morning and a very ambiguous article on the Oxford Mail site (Merry mulling things over or words to that effect). So I think it's 'safe' to assume that for the moment at least it's business as usual.

Besides, with his record of communication, do you think Merry would actually tell anyone if he was going to hold a press conference?

Attacks on patterson, no, a desire to get rid of him, absolutely. Two disasterous years as part of the management team, remember Droylsden, Tonbridge, now Lewes. He is an absolute disaster, but by all means support him, asis your right. I though don't wish us to be relegated....

Er, I think you'll find that we have NEVER lost to Droylsden under Patto's reign. You must be thinking of the 3-1 loss under the previous manager, one Jim Smith, not the 1-0 win that Patto took charge of on the 16th of Feb this year. You remember? The one where Barry Quinn scored the winner in the 31st min? No? Didn't think so!

I didn't express any support for Patterson at all, yet you helpfully demonstrated my earlier point by assuming that I had.

In fact, going back, when Smith (finally, and six games too late in my opinion) stepped down, I didn't want Patterson appointed - I felt that we should have gone after a proven Conference manager (my preference was for Clough), but I suspect that even back then we had become too poisoned a chalice to have our pick of managers. Who'd want to manage us now?

'Sanguine' isn't really the best word - people on here tend to oscillate between sanguine and melancholic moods depending on results. But I like to think that we mostly avoid the choleric of the 'other place'. Except, of course, when there is a misplaced semicolon.

As for Tiffany's I don't think we'll make it for tea, given the demise of Concorde. Some other time, perhaps?
