I didn't go, but the question's I'd like answered if possible are:

Is Guy the new Moody?

Did the virtual 4-2-4 work in the first half?

How did Mr Winters play?

Was he seen in coversation with Patto before or after the match? How many pre-season games will Matt Day need to get fit?

Others may disagree (they'll be wrong, naturally), but here's how I see it:
Is Guy the new Moody?
No (different type of player entirely)
Did the virtual 4-2-4 work in the first half?
ish. Yemi needs to get more involved (although, to be fair, he's not really a winger)
How did Mr Winters play?
Very well, especially in the second half
Was he seen in coversation with Patto before or after the match?
Not by me (but I wasn't particularly looking)
How many pre-season games will Matt Day need to get fit?

My questions:
- How is Bennett doing at CB so far - worth keeping in the squad?
- Taking Murray &amp Burrell as first choice, how is Davies showing as a potential first choice back-up? -
- How did Jeannin fare - if he were a 'new' triallist, would his display have been worthy of further interest? What was his attitude like, did he appear to be trying to persuade Patto to reconsider not using him?
- Clarke vrs Winters vrs Silk - was the fact that Winters was better in the second half down to i) Clarke doing a good job of keeping a good player quiet or ii) Silk doing a bad job of keeping an average player quiet?

Is it true that Reuben Reid was expected but just didnt turn up?

Looks reasonably solid and steady - more a Rob Lovegrove than a Luke Foster, but worth persevering with. Should probably be sent on loan somewhere for match practice and a bit of beefing up.

He did okay alongside Burnell, but without Murray's composure or positioning. I'd have thought he would be okay as a backup.

I thought he did okay, although without being too spectacular. He played left wing, and he did play as though he were out of position, but he played a couple of excellent cross-field passes, and he is without doubt the best dead-ball taker at the club. I think that if he were a triallist without the baggage he'd be worth another look. He undoubtedly has the talent, but perhaps not the application. As for his attitude - difficult to say. He didn't track back too well, but that might partly be down to fitness (he didn't play at Oxford City due to injury).
Clarke vrs Winters vrs Silk - was the fact that Winters was better in the second half down to i) Clarke doing a good job of keeping a good player quiet or ii) Silk doing a bad job of keeping an average player quiet?
ii, in my opinion. I've read elsewhere that Clarke didn't play well and that Winters easily bested him, but I didn't see that (although I was on the opposite side of the pitch). Silk got in a couple of good tackles, but seemed to be caught out of position on occasion, and I thought that there was much more space for Winters in the second half (although some of that might have been down to Adam Barrowman's inexperience and not helping Silk out as much as a more experienced winger would).
Is it true that Reuben Reid was expected but just didnt turn up?
So I was told.

Might explain why Barrowman ended up playing (the only first year scholar to be selected so far).

No

Did the virtual 4-2-4 work in the first half?

Yes but we surely wouldn't play it by choice when Murray and Trainer are in the team.

How did Mr Winters play?

OK.

Was he seen in coversation with Patto before or after the match?

Didn't see.

How many pre-season games will Matt Day need to get fit?

I think he needs a few runs over Shotover with ML on his case.

BTW Haldane looks very capable, loan keeper a bit concerning had a real David James walkabout moment.

Very nice club, warm welcome, good clubhouse, cheap beer and they were happy to let anyone in for a pint, there was some bloke with a very strange hat next to me at the bar at one point.

you think he's better than murray?

i'm intrigued to hear we were playing 4-2-4. as i wrote, i thought first half at court place farm we were playing a sort-of 4-2-3-1, but i'm terrible at reading these kind of things, so someone with a better eye for this might care to comment.

Welcome to the forum, RADMAN.

I'm not entirely sure that we were playing 4-2-4 against Brackley. It seemed to me more of a 4-4-2, but with the wide midfielders showing a much more attacking intent than we've been used to. I think that this is largely due to the personnel, with Yemi and Haldane more attack-minded than Anaclet and Trainer. However, they still both did their fair share of tracking back and helping out, but were much livelier on the break.

It's certainly time to rethink this answer!
