Is that twitch getting worse Geoff?"Geoff" wrote:I've been pretty laid back about new signings so far, but I'm starting to get twitchy now. Hopefully several new faces will be in place by the end of June. I'm quite keen on our management team and the way we finished last season but let's not start the new season on the back foot. Please!
Days to the big (if BSP can be considered big) kick off 46.
New signings nil.
Wonder if anyone will respond positively to Patto's ultimatum.
I had assumed that Howard would have signed by now.

I don't know if it might be because players are waiting later before they sign - not just at Oxford, but at most places. If contracts are getting shorter, it might make sense for players, who might be inclined to sign earlier if they felt they were getting security, to wait as long as possible to see if they could get a better one-year offer? That's pure speculation though.

I very much doubt they would be able to sue in those terms."Werthers Original" wrote:I think that's out of order, they havent broken their contracts or done anything wrong apart from being a bit crap. If they feel obliged to take an inferior job elsewhere they could sue for unfair dismissal, I think.
However, I really don't see the point of making them train separately. If we don't get ride of them, we might have to rely on them at some point in the season.
I don't think there is any suspicion of them upsetting the dressing room, so keep the unit together would be my view.
I tend to agree with GY, but we don't really know the dynamic between the players in training. For all we know, the others may be pleased to be shot of them - Hutch probably talks through his nose, and Jeannin almost certainly shrugs his shoulders too often. Not a good recipe for bonding and togetherness, in my view.

I say, let the manager get on with his job. He knows the personalities involved. You're probably thinking of constructive dismissal rather than unfair dismissal. But yes, it's precisely the sort of thing which led to the formulation of "constructive dismissal" as a concept in law. In the event of a legal action I would imagine the club would try to show that the move was justified either because they were disruptive or because they hadn't been training properly and thus it was a reasonable punishment: the player or players would try to show that this was not the case and that it was a deliberate attemnpt to humilate and belittle them."Werthers Original" wrote:I think that's out of order, they havent broken their contracts or done anything wrong apart from being a bit crap.
