I remember leaving Chester away thinking "we could still sneak into the play-offs here".

If you'd said to me then that we'd spend the next four seasons in the Conference I would have laughed at you.

Selling our three good forwards worried me a lot, and I knew after Wycombe we were in big trouble. Then I realised we had Orient on the last day of the season. The same Leyton Orient that paid half my mortgage (my Mrs worked for the club). It couldn't happen could it?

Then Atkins turning it round at Torquay. That Atkins.

Then Jim's mad signings. That keeper. That fumble at Wrexham. Burgess missing those three sitters. Oh dear god. No.

I filmed our training session for a piece for BBC News before the Leyton match. The players who cared, knew we were gone. The other half knew they were gone and didn't care.

It was a total nightmare. I still shudder.

But we could still survive if we win our last match at home - so lets make sure we give an entire stand to away fans.

Thankfully we've been promised a proper selection process and interview so hopefully that means Allen won't even get a foot through the door (even if PR-B isn't waiting in the car park to run him over!).

David Rush has been in contact but seems to be a little confused about what job is available!

If we want the players to have a pint and have a fight, he's the man for the job, whatever that job may be!

Basically he means that Martin Allen ended Peter Rhoades-Brown's professional
career as a footballer when United played QPR a couple of weeks before Wembley '86

Martin "Mad Dog" Allen produced a diabolical tackle and done Rosie's knee ligaments big time.

Therefore it would be difficult for P R-B were Allen to get the United job
and it would be difficult for me as I don't like the guy (Allen)

I can't decide whether he sounds confused, desperate or deluded!
