Do you mean that the club are no longer able to decide what the kit should look like? They have to choose from a limited selection and be done with it?
If this is the case, how come every other football club strip hasn't changed? And why don't we use a shirt manufacturer who will produce a shirt to our requirements?
I'd be genuinely shocked if a football club the size of ours was constrained to the extent you suggest.
Yeah I agree with this. The shirt looks like the kind of generic kit you could make up on Fifa '98.

I have to echo Kernow here, if that is the case then the kit supplier/manufacturer obviously has no respect for Oxford United as a club. KT should have told them what
we wanted not what they
think we should have.

I know nothing regarding the design or selection of shirts but if KT were offered a bespoke item for £X or an off the peg item for £X-Y then the financial factor may have influenced his decision.

Yeah that's true too. I'm not sure if he's got this one right however. Can he expect fans to fork out £40 for a generic design that has seeminly nothing to do with OUFC's history? Or will the losses in sales outweigh the savings of having a generic design?

Surely having an off the peg design is part of the Justsport deal. They run the club shop and will provide the shirts on the basis you use one of the standard designs available, and the factory just sews on the badge and prints the sponsors on.
Presumably this makes reordering for special occassions a lot easier too, as the factory just get the standard design out of the cupboard and stick some more badges on.
Order something bespoke and the club has to pay extra set-up costs, and I guess order enough for the whole season in one run.

This is exactly what I thought the Justsport deal was.

There may of course be a question of cost involved, with cost to the club of a bespoke shirt being considerably more than an off the peg shirt.
Until we get to the Championship, I doubt there will be many manufacturers clamouring to provide our shirt designs for free.

How many times can people say on a forum that a) just wearing yellow has nothing to do with our history (see what Boris has written on the matter) and b) it DOES have something to do with our history as we wore a kit like this in the mid 1970's!
ARGH!

That's why I said 'Seemingly'! And anyway will the losses in sales outweigh the savings of having a generic design?

I'm not so sure there will be any loss in sales.
There appeared to be a lot of people wearing them at the Open Day, and also from comments elsewhere it seems that plenty of people are buying this one who haven't bought in the last few season, for the very reason it is different and not just another slight tweak to the blue trim on a plain yellow shirt.

Any one got any idea when the new away kit will be unveiled?

I don't like it, too much blue.
"boris" wrote: And if people want to talk tradition, then traditionally the club's colours were orange with blues stripes.
We should go back to this. Except without the blue

When some faceless sports marketing franchise company with no connection to OUFC have decided what it is going to look like, by the sounds of things

They already know exactly what it looks like, and if you think the home kit has too much blue, then I wouldn't hold my breath...
That said I like them both and as a playing kit they are of much better quality and are nicer to play in than the Carlotti tops which were horrible.
