My first match is a bit of a blur since I was only five. I'm pretty sure it was against a team in blue shirts in the 1966/7 season. Some members of my family think it was the 2-1 defeat to Brighton. I must admit to not really understanding what was going on so I always count my first game as the championship clincher against Southport the following season. This is the first game that I clearly remember. David Sloan scored and became my favourite player. There seemed to be a massive crowd and when the final whistle blew, thousands streamed onto the pitch to celebrate and somebody set off a rocket. Ah.....the excitement of it all.

My first game was not actually and Oxford game sad to say.

I think it was Lincoln v Aldershot whilst not yet a teenager. My mothers family came from near Lincoln and we were visiting but I was the only one with an interest in football so I went on my own. Those were the times when mates at school collected football programmes of any shape and size and I had to bring half a dozen back to Oxfordshire. Stood their holding six programmes I was mistaken for an official seller.

I also visited the Old Show Ground in Scunthorpe and Highfield Road, Coventry, before making my Manor debut.

I went to each of these games as a neutral and came away a neutral.

I went to the Manor for my first vist as an Oxford fan as they were my local team - and as they say I came away hooked and remain so. I've never changed allegiance.

8th November 1969, when I was ten. We beat Carlisle 1-0, and I was hooked. My family didn't do sport, and so I went with a friend's dad. I then went a few times whilst at school (on the bus from Abingdon with friends - haven't times changed?), and then nearly got beaten up by Hull City fans on the way down Headington Hill which put me off. Went to the educational establishment at the bottom of the hill, and encouraged by a Fulham-supporting friend, starting going again. Very fortunate to be able to have a season ticket during the mid eighties.

It's hard to explain the attraction. I now have three children, two of whom can't see the point at all, but the youngest always comes with me when he can, and has proudly worn his Basham shirt in West Yorkshire and now Gloucestershire.

My first game was Oxford v Man City, league one in old money, Horton was the manager and we lost 4 - 2 sorry, no idea what year that was!

By coincidence my first game was the very next one after the Newcastle game attended by the original poster. Oxford United 1 Hull City 1, October 29 1983.

My first game ever was Chelsea 1 Leeds 2, 15 December 1973, which was about Leeds' 21st game in an unbeaten run from the start of the season. I sat on my father's shoulders.

He was 10 weeks old. He would have gone younger than that, but he was born in the summer, so this was the first match he could get to.

It was the last match of the season, and she'd have been 4 weeks old.

By the way, to latch on to GY's advertising. I may well have copies of programmes that he doesn't, so if you're interested let me know. I'm pretty sure I've got that Chelsea prog that was mentioned earlier, but it's a rare one, and therefore not particularly cheap.

My first match was in 1964 and I think it was Bournemouth but I'm not sure. At the time I lived in a small village called Upper Winchendon and four of us went on our bikes. I remember that Ron Atkinson, Graham Atkinson, Colin Harrington, Maurice Kyle, Cyril Beavon and Pat Quartermain were playing. I had one of the old flimsy red programmes with players' signatures on, which (many years later) a work colleague managed to throw away!

First game was FA Cup 4th Rd vs Blackpool on 28/1/84. Bobby Mac scored 2 penalties (to win 2-1) but don't remember these. Do remember him heading a piledriver off the line from under the crossbar which then spun back in the air to land on the crossbar though!

Well timed for the glory years. See i'm a glory supporter!!!

I'm sure Blackpool's goal in that game involved a ball that everybody thought was going out for a corner but stuck in the mud. A Blackpool player then ran over and crossed it.

I do remember something like that happening around then. Must admit looking back at the details of the match, I was slightly surprised at the size of the crowd as I didn't remember it as being as large as that. Obviously dodgy memory.

C’mon Trevor Lambert - when did you first watch the U’s, or do you only read TiU these days?

My first game was in 1976, but I have no idea who it was against or the score.

I remember the bus ride more than the game.
