Maybe it’s because we’ve suddenly got lucky, what with two penalty saves against Histon and that miss from 2 yards from Them (which may or may not have been offside) in the last few seconds against Droylsden today.
Or maybe we’ve stopped being unlucky, like there was no such thing as a curse on the Minchery Farm site, and we can be a normal football club again.
When your goalkeeper makes 2 penalty saves it is not luck - it's skill / abilty.
The miss from 2 yards is just down to them being a really s**t team - and the fact we would only have come away with a point if it had gone in says such a lot about how far we still have to progress if we are to get out of this crappy league.

I'm with the reptilian one on this, it's not all down to skill and ability although of course that does play a huge part in proceedings.
The ball that bobbled over the keeper's foot at Notts County from Matt Murphy's "shot" and the ball that skipped over the Hull keeper's shoulder in the 5 - 2 game in the 70's or Peter Hatch's left wing cross that went in during the same game, are all proof that luck does play an important part in football, couple that with a dodgy referee vs. a homer and you could be the most skillful team in the world but still not win.

Of course its not all down to skill and ability but I maintain the penalty saves were not lucky.
(Proves how dreary yesterdays game was as I am still debating the far more exciting 90 mins we saw last week.

Ok, so I was wrong.

Yes you were and it appears there's still a way to go yet. But I won't be there to see it.

Stafford away with Northwich and Farsley at home are yet to come. So we
could finally see the nadir.
I probably will not see this season out along with D Patterson.
I agree the club is dying an incredibly slow death.

Death is too harsh a word to use, as Oxford United will never die – it’s just not capable of doing what teams like Barnsley have just done in the FA Cup anymore and we now struggle to out-compete village or part-time outfits.
I don’t think that things can’t get much worse this season. I mean, what’s the difference between 15th in the BSP or say 18th, which as far as I can work out is about as low as we can possibly drop this season? On the flip side, 9th is about as high as we can aspire to now, and that’s really pushing it and ultimately nothing to write home about.
Gauging the reactions on RadOx and TiU tonight it seems we are at that place again. The dreaded “should we give him more time?

Are we sure about this? Although it is clutching at straws, after the 3rd game in the 61/2 season, we had won 1 and lost 2 games, and I wonder if that would have put us in a lower league position than 16th.

That would be the same year that we finished as Southern League Champions, and in those days you never saw a league table until 4 to 6 games had been played.
So, no, it’s like saying York always start the season in bottom place in the table before a ball is kicked.
Nice try at cheering Us all up though, GY.

Or another way of looking at it:
Oxford United, a mid table conference side lost 1-nil to a team unbeaten for 6 games and who have lost just once in their last ten. The game turned on a mistake from Oxford United's keeper who is normally considered to be the safest pair of hands in the Conference. Oxford may well have gone on to draw level or even win based on the balance of play were it not for the abysmal way in which the game was refereed. Sunday League referee, Adam Watts ensured the Northwitch victory with a second half booking of Oxford's Luke Foster apparently for persistant fouling. Had Mr Watts remembered that he had already booked Foster in the first half, the decision to produce the card (followed after a long delay with the obligatory red) and the outcome of the game would almost certainly have been very different.
