What a surprise 8)

Qatar 2022 wil be a great gathering of the fans as they huddle round the bars drinking lemonades. And what a welcome there will be to gay supporters.

I do hope you were'nt being serious Snake. Russia is a monstrous country. Would'nt mind visiting to confirm this though,

Next stop - The IOC before 2012. Let's do Boris over as well.

Qatar has ambient temperatures of over 40 degrees not good for playing football or watching it either. The promise of air conditioned stadia isn't going to offer much respite either.

Russia is a shocking place as well if they're not fleecing you with their tourist stalls they're mugging you in the back streets. I've never felt so threatened as the back streets of St. Petersburg.

South Africa, Brazil, Russia, Qatar four countries i really don't want to watch football in. I don't think it's even Europe's turn in 2026 so even if we get chosen at the next opportunity I will be 75 by the time of the competition. I have now officially given up hope of ever seeing the tournament on our soil.

I'm glad we didn't get it. It is one of the few competitions that ranks alongside the Eurovision Song Contest when it comes to the integrity of the voters.

Both should be treated with equal contempt.

From what I understand the plan is 2026 Asia/Australasia 2030 Americas 2034 Africa so 2038 next realistic chance!!!

2038? I'll be dead. Not too worried though (although I suppose I'd rather not be dead!)

My earlier suggestion sounds a lot better now, all we need is a Kerry Packer style entrepreneur and the whole country could make a killing.

I think Boris (J) is quite capable of doing himself over.

I don't mind Russia getting it, they've never had it and should open the country up somewhat, they're also pretty decent at football.

However, I didn't realise Qatar even had a football team, the fact that they've got it says everything about FIFA that you need to know.

Never realised before seeing that clip that The Bus finally did make it to international standard.

I trust that was his first and last cap, though...

There's a bloke in my department called Steve Anthrobus and now I smile every time I see him. It's taken a few years though!

Funny, I've rarely felt safer than I did in St Petersburg. But then I was there as they were celebrating their tricentenary, rather than for a football match. Moscow had a rather edgier feel to it, however...
