So, today's lesson is don't lose to your non-league neighbours if you are only five points off an automatic promotion spot....

That's insane... they are only 5 points off the top, and 2 from play-offs.

Former U Andy Crosby is hot favourite for the Scunthorpe job.

Post weekend catch-up:
Pulis appointed at Palace on Saturday, Whittingham sacked this evening after their weekend defeat against Scunthorpe for whom Megson and O'Leary lead the betting. Andy Crosby is at 20/1, Wilder not listed (despite the discussions on the other side).

Apparently Martin Allen is now odds on for the Pompey job. He is excellent at turning teams round short term but never seems to stay anywhere long.

RIchard Barker and Martin Allen joint favourites for Pompey, with Neil Warnock hovering towards the top of the pile too.
More interestingly, such is the market nowadays that even the mighty Scunthorpe have attracted high profile interest, with Gary Megson, David O'Leary and Steve Cotterill top of the bookies lists.
From a U's perspective, Chris Wilder is not joint 4th favourite with Martin Allen, although I think this will have been entirely driven by money staked in Oxfordshire betting shops by people not satisfied by being top of the league. I personally cannot see this move happening in a month of Sundays.
Two other names on the list are Andy Crosby (understandably) and Adam Murray.

Strange move from Crawley if the interest from Portsmouth is real....surely worth waiting to see if they come knocking so they can grab a bit of compensation, rather than do their job for them...

Latest odds:
Scunnie - caretaker Russ Wilcox & Megson 7/2, Cotterill/Martin Allen 10s, Wilder/O'Leary/Housham 16s - although news out this afternoon is that Wilcox will stay in his caretaker role until the new year
Pompey - Barker evens, MArtin Allen 6s, Wilder/Edinburgh/Connolly/Mikey Harris/Warnock all about 10s, Lee Bradbury/Awford/Tisdale 16s
CRawley - caretaker Gary Alexander 2s, Cotterill 3s, Danny Wilson/Mark Allen 7s, Hessenthaler/Coppell/ Bradbury 16s
Bristol City - Barker/Cotterill 2s, Appleton/Holloway 8s, Warnock 10s, Wilder among many at 33/1
After a long period of not being linked with jobs (except Sheff Utd each time) Wilder now appears to be becoming one of the usual suspects quoted. Whether that is down to his apparent success at taking his club to the top of League 2 or a concerted effort by elements of the support of that club to get him out by flooding local betting shops is unclear.
Couple of others for jobs that are not vacant, but may be soon:
Spurs: Laudrup/Hoddle/Luis Enrique 6-8s, Klinnsmann/Klopp/Mancini/di Matteo 12s
Sheff W: di Canio 4s, Holloway/Cotterill 6s, Sven/Karl Robinson/Noel King 14s, Wilder not listed tho bizarrely Graham Rix is, albeit at 100/1
Cardiff (not saying this will happen any time soon) but Betvictor have Dave Jones at 8/1 2nd favourite behind Pulis! StanJames are a little more sensible with Bellamy/Solskjear/RDM & Zola topping their list

...and another, as BArnsley fire Flitcroft...who lasted three days longer than SO'D (appt one day before, sacked two days after)
Only a matter of time for Jones and Jol, the latter may not even need another game...
First up at the bookies: Appleton 2/1, Agnew 4s, Wilson 9s, caretaker Micky Mellon 12s, Megson/holloway 16s, Wilder 40/1
