Why stop at Oxford United? Why not fund the Oxford rowers versus Cambridge in the boat race, make London Welsh a superpower in Wugby, bring back touring international cricket squads to the Parks, build a proper horse racing track in Oxfordshire, save the stadium at Cowley and host world beating greyhound and speedway events?

It would be funny if it was not so sad for City and the volunteers who keep that club going...

TAG obviously got scared of Oxford University's lawyers, as he changed the name of his proposed educational institution to City University of Technology earlier this month. Which is surely a bit of a blow for his plans.

I note that CIT University is still registered as a "religious institution" with the State of Florida, thereby avoiding government oversight.

As a religious institution, the University must offer "only educational programs that prepare students for religious vocations as ministers, professionals, or laypersons in the categories of ministry, counseling, theology, education, administration, music, fine arts, media communications, or social work."

Also, "the titles of degrees issued by the institution cannot be confused with secular degree titles. For this purpose, each degree title must include a religious modifier that immediately precedes, or is included within, any of the following degrees: Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Science, Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor of Education. The religious modifier must be placed on the title line of the degree, on the transcript, and whenever the title of the degree appears in official school documents or publications. "

CIT University advertises the following Bachelors degree:

"The BA in Economics & Financial Markets is designed to prepare students for success in the fast-paced, dynamic global economy by combining a solid foundation in general management and leadership practices with expertise in global markets, and the services industry."

I've just seen a story in the Oxford Mail saying he wants to buy the greyhound/speedway stadium at blackbird leys. No surprise that he would listen to potential investors to partner with.

They have a better goal difference than those around them but that 3 point deduction has made things tricky! Of their last seven fixtures 3 are at home to the teams currently placed 2nd/3rd/4th and they are also away to 7th placed Brackley. Tomorrow is a 6 pointer at Stalybridge (21st) - let's hope they can survive and then (from a purely selfish point of view!) get moved to the South!

Just as a caveat to this -
Vauxhall Motors have announced that they have resigned from the Conference North which will take effect at the end of the season.
Normal logic would suggest that this would mean that they take one of the three relegation spots in the division meaning only two others go down and the third-bottom side (20th) is reprieved.
However, this being non-league, where the simplest solution is rarely the one taken, it has been decided that the team that is reprieved shall be whichever of the third-bottom finishers from either the Conference North or the Conference South has the better points per game tally at the end of the season.
At present this is most likely to be the side from the Conference South where Maidenhead are currently 20th with 35pts from 35 games, whereas Histon are 20th in the Conference North with 31pts from 37 games (Stalybridge are 21st with 31 from 36). Oxford are now 19th with 32 from 35.
So to survive, Oxford will have to either stay in 19th or above, or finish 20th but winning at least twice more than their Conference South counterparts.
