As the merry-go-round awaits the flurry that is the close season, Pompey finally do the decent thing and confirm Guy Whittingham as boss, five months after he took over as caretaker

a couple of positions are already vacant:

Karl Robinson and STeve Mclaren still top the list for the Blackburn job, with caretaker Gary Bowyer third on the list.
Helicopters on the horizon at Brammall Lane? Les Ferdinand is currently favourite for the Sheff Utd job, with MArtin Allen and Stuart Mccall next in the betting. Current caretaker Chris Morgan is still in there, while Mr Wilder sits about 7th behind Phil Parkinson and Wally Downes! No odds on Wilder or anyone else taking the #2 spot, which seems to be a rumour (among many others) on the other place...!
Macclesfield also still searching for a new boss, with previous favourite Gary Simpson choosing to extend his contract at Lincoln.

After going on sick leave for a 'sttress-related illness&quot in February, with Alan Knill taking control for the rest of the season, Martin Ling has now completed his recovery - and been sacked by Torquay, apparently for results up to the point when he went on leave.....
I know its only Monday, but no other L1 or L2 departures yet...though expect more than one Championship club to have acted by this time next week (Leicester &amp Boro for falling out of playoffs, Wolves and BArnsley if relegated, wolves possibly anyway!).

Interesting to see the cost of sacking a manager, Henning Berg gets £2.25million compensation from Blackburn.

Leam Richardson leaves Accrington, despite keeping them up, to become Assistant Manager at Chesterfield...

Former management team John Coleman &amp Jimmy Bell, who left after 11 years for an unsuccesful stint at Rochdale are apparently open for a return, so may be a quick one this.

Oh, and Alan Knill has not officially replaced Martin Ling at Torquay yet, despite having covered for him through his illness, though is clearly favourite to do so.

Brian Flynn has stepped back upstairs at Donnie after securing promotion, Paul Dickov opens at 5/1 ON favourite.
Blackburn caretaker Gary Bowyer now favourite, ahead of Karl Robinson &amp Steve mclaren, with Tim Sherwood in there too.
MArtin Allen heads the list at Sheff Utd, ahead of Les Ferdinand, Stuart Mccall. Caretaker Chris Morgan at about 4th favourite, but will probably need to win the playoffs to get the nod.
Robbie Fowler has been interviewed for the Macclesfield job, along with Jim Gannon &amp Sammy Mcilroy.
Wayne Burnett confirmed in post at Daggers, after initially only getting the job until the end of the season.

Should be more action by Monday/tuesday, with a good couple of Championship sides likely to act - Neil Lennon &amp MON already head to head for the Leicester job, unless Pearson can climb back into the playoff mix.

W'hay, it's started....two go in the championship - one expected, one a surprise...

Deano has been sacked at Wolves - never looked a comfortable fit that one, hardly showed any sign of walking the talk to be honest...and now watches his old team go up as he goes down and out...although he is now 4/1 second favourite (behind Paul dickov) to return to the Doncaster hotseat......early favourite to replace him at Wolves is fellow relegatee Darren Ferguson..
Kenny Jackett has resigned after six years at Millwall, talking of a new challenge, which is interesting given that he has been favourite to become next Wales manager for some time...early favourite here is Eddie Howe, which would be a surprise..

Gary BOwyer now favourite to make the Blackburn job permanent...

HOLD THE PRESS - just trawling through oddschecker and both BetVictor and StanJames have Chris Wilder as 4/1 favourite for the Sheffield Utd job!!!!!!!!!!!!! - WHERE HAS THAT COME FROM!

CW up to seventh in the longest-serving managers list. if Pulis and Moyes go at the end of the season he'll be fifth (unless the bookies are right about Sheffield Utd)

No Jackett required at Millwall then :o

I thought Carlisle's long serving boss Greg Abbott was set to leave the Cumbrians too.

Wolves have had four managers since February 2012 when Big Mick was
harshly sacked.

When does Chairman Steve Morgan leave Molineux - his record at selecting manager's is disastrous.

Talk about incompetence.

Dean Saunders is a poor manager in my opinion - I'd hate us to appoint him
but there will no doubt be a clamour.

Wilder is massive odds on wherever you look, I really wouldn't be at all surprised if he stays, after what happened with Wilder and Coventry at the start of the season, odds on =/= done deal.
