Boston, Leeds, West Ham
Boston entered into a CVA at 4:45pm on 5th May - the last Saturday of the season. The Inland Revenue put a caveat on that CVA that Boston could not pay football creditors. That breaks FA, Football League and Football Conference rules and regulations. At the end of the day they accepted that they would have to be placed in Conference North.
That’s scary and sad stuff, but it’s hardly causing a ripple in the footballing world (i.e. 50% of all football news in the national papers seem to be about the top four teams in the Premier League). You can’t even find details on the BBC website about the item today.
Yes, I feel for their fans, even though it’s a horrible place to go to so I shall not miss it.
But never mind, they can be like Us last season, and take more away fans to games than there are home fans in attendance. Lots of their supporters will be pleased with that and their season ticket sales will rocket, no doubt, in partic because they have a new set of owners as well. Just think of the number of points they will get next season..

Talking of the backwaters of the football pyramid, before I go and moan and drag up that well read FA Trophy thread on this site, can anyone provide a link to the rules of this new cup competition we have to enter next season as I can’t find anything on it. All I know is that’s it’s apparently between the teams in Division V and Division VI (North) and Division VI (South). Many thanks.

Re:
I doubt that very much. They were a poorly supported league club, and I'd be surprised if their attendances did't fall pretty dramatically next season."Snake" wrote:But never mind, they can be like Us last season, and take more away fans to games than there are home fans in attendance.
Re:
Depends how the fans react. There could be a reaction to a pereceived injustice with a relatively big turn out at away games by Conference North standards. Or they could slot in to that level of football without causing a stir. Just like Scarborugh who were a football league side just a few seasons ago."Kernow Yellow" wrote:I doubt that very much. Boston is certainly no hotbed of footballing passion although I once was tricked into believing so driving away from Sincil Bank when more Boston fans than Imps followers called the local phone in.
Some top reporting by Lazy Jon ... http://www.thisisunited.com/news/item.asp?id=2356
Apparently Boston are paying a "heavy price". Absolutely nothing in his report about the history to all this. We know he has internet access and is not averse to pinching stories from TiU so even he should be able to provide a little more explanation to the less-informed Mail readers. Although on reflection they probably wouldn't be interested anyway.

I've left my copy in the car, so cannot check for certain, but Mr Murray's article bears a striking resemblance to that which appeared in the Non-League Paper on this issue.
One of the sadnesses in all this is that the club are only finally being punished, or at least suffering the consequences, of their sins of a few years ago, just at the time that two of the perpetrators have upped sticks and joined that eqully well administered operation at Crawley.
The other of course, is that had they had all these problems 12 months earlier, it would probably have meant a relegation reprieve for the side finishing 23rd in League two, which was........oh b#gg#r!

i must admit on hearing the news, my reaction was one of 'good riddance'. but the supporter they interviewed on radio 5 who talked about the various management teams they've had didn't seem any more enamoured with the latest bunch they are about to get, alleging that they were more concerned with selling off the land the club has, and that the lower down the leagues they were, the easier that it would be to do this.
now i haven't followed the full details of boston's travail, but i note their proposed new owners didn't appeal the decision.

Which is what I posted earlier on this thread last Saturday. i.e.

That breaks FA, Football League and Football Conference rules and regulations. At the end of the day they accepted that they would have to be placed in Conference North."

Anyone found a link to the Blue Square Cup competition yet?

A bit more detail on the Boston demotion:
http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/news/inde ... pnid=42800
According to Mick BRown on the club site, the new cup will be open to clubs from the three Blue Square divisions, with Oxford entering in the 4th round (work that one out if you can)....
