Personally I am not really that bothered but would have liked a bit more yellow. However whether justified or not it's best not to upset your fan base / customers who will be more inclined to buy something they actually like.

I like the shirt and I wanted to see something different. There is only so much you can do with plain yellow shirts that we have had over the past 33 years. There was a major design change in 1987 with the stripey yellow and white Wang kit and the 1993 centenary shirt abomination.

The back of the new shirt, once numbered and lettered looks good
when viewing the image that Boris has provided.

My main disbelief is that the shorts have a white trim down the sides and
I want to see a splash of yellow on the stockings too or failing that yellow stockings.

There can be no surprise about the fuss this has generated. It is well known that the majority of football fans are conservative on these matters and will oppose any changes to the perceived traditional colours of their club. Most will happily keep buying a new shirt of the same basic colour with minor changes in trim rather some radical new design. It will be interesting to compare sales of this year's shirt compared to last year's.

It's a kit, it's not as if it hasn't changed frequently in the past. Get over yourselves.

The original poster asked for opinions and people have expressed them! We're known as The Yellows and that shirt is what, 75% blue? Add to that blue shorts and socks and we're playing in all blue with a couple of yellow stripes on the front and much less on the back.

At least it makes all those blue seats a bit more relevant!

As it reminds me of the first Oxford shirt I bought having seen Houseman play against Chelsea I have no problem with it apart from the fact I will not be able to wear it at friday night football to avoid wearing one of the smelly yellow bibs no-one has washed from the week before.

The trim on the shorts should be yellow. Surely they can sort that out.

i thought it was horrid at first, but now i think its pretty cool!!!

I agree, I wouldn't dislike it quite so much if the shorts and socks had yellow trim.

Looks like I'm in the minority here but - love it! I'm from the school of thought that says - the kit has hardly changed in recent memory, and of course, we are 'The Yellows', but the shirt's also pretty blooming dull and has been for a while. In these commercial times I'm all for any small advantage this club can have, and making a mint on an interesting and somewhat different kit is just such an advantage. Having collected every shirt from 1991 until they got pretty boring circa 2006, this is the first I'll buy in four years. (I also felt in those heady days of 1996 when we had the stuffing knocked out of our season by defeats at Bristol Rovers and WhyCome? that we should have really gone the whole hog with our subsequent shirt, playing in yellow-and-blue quarters - would have looked very smart indeed!)

Can't help but think we also missed a trick when we were the first of many clubs to invent a Milan-esque red-and-black striped away shirt in 1994 - had I my way the club would have commenced on a tour of the famous clubs of Europe for away-kit inspiration every two years - after Milan maybe Ajax, Barca, Fiorentina and Dukla Prague coloured Oxford away shirts would have sold by the lorry-load! Such a shame we get the same boring old white or plain blue every year...

Seriously, it's quite a smart kit, and there's no problem changing the design or pattern. I also agree that having interesting and sellable away kits would be a great way to increase revenue. But we're the YELLOWS, all the terrace songs these days revolve around the fact that we're the YELLOWS. Our home kit should be at least half YELLOW. This new kit is basically blue with a yellow trim. It just doesn't make any sense. Even just reversing the colours would be better.

Sorry I hate it, reminds me of the one we had in the 70's and we were rubbish then. For me this kit is not Oxford United, it may look nice but it won't be like watching Oxford united. Why do the club rely on replica shirt revenue anyway, if they were to get someone to run the club shop better with a decent range of leisure shirts and tops then there wouldn't be a need to change the kit. Sorry to sound a moaning minnie but thats how i see it.

With the kit looking like that from the back we're going to need to make an effort to secure the services of Dave Long-Vehicle, Barry Wideload and Olubale Highwaymaintenance.

Are you getting a cut on the kit deal or something Boris? You seem unusually exercised by any criticism of it.

We've actually just had quite a successful season in yellow. One which culminated in Wembley being a sea of yellow. As it was in 1986. I for one would be a little bit upset if our next visit to the twin towers was accompanied by swathes of dark blue in the stands. We'll be entering a team in the boat race next...

I'm not 100% sure about it myself, but I think that there are a lot of people getting extremely irrational about it all, especially this bollocks about &quotwe got relegated the last time we wore stripes&quot needs counteracting with &quotthe last five relegations we suffered we wore yellow&quot because in truth it's the players who wear the kit that get the side relegated/promoted, not the design on the shirt. And if people want to talk tradition, then traditionally the club's colours were orange with blues stripes. I just think people are a bit conservative about radical change when there's no real need to be.
