We were terrible last night but I have to agree with AO that this 'it's all over we might as well give up now' mentality is OTT. If Clisty had put that ball an inch or two either side of the keeper at Cambridge (not his fault, just unlucky) or if we'd have taken a couple of our easy chances last night which I'm sure Beano would have done (and probably JG and MG would more often than not too), we'd be feeling very differently about things.

Against Wimbledon we were superb, the Rushden result was a great one and I think that we were horribly unlucky at Luton.

Keep the faith! We could always try and pull something like this off on the 29th...http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2006 ... ory.sport2

Creighton and Grant woeful. Hayes didn't even bother to close Creighton down as they knew he was no threat going forward and his poor distribution. Batt still not back to his old self. If Hargreaves was carrying an injury then why risk him? Chappers is perfectly capable in midfield and might have given us more in attack. Chalmers looked good when he came on and I hope we can exploit that long throw of his more (seeing as we're shite at corners) in the future. Deering just ran as usual with little end product, but at least he tried. Too many shots over the bar and not enough (any?) on target. Apart from a late double save, how much did we really stretch their Goalie?

As good a goal as it was, if we're letting the likes of Basham score a header from a corner (outleapt everyone), we've got defensive problems. But I think we know that.

Not good, but usually we bounce back quickly. Let's hope we do this time.

Strange that no one has picked up on the fact that last nightÔÇÖs attendance was the lowest League gate of the season, which is odd given that we were top of the League at kick-off time.

By the time Chalmers came on I had lost the ability to look at things objectively. What good is a long throw if our threat in the air is so pathetic. Midson is the only one who seemed to have any idea about jumping for a ball and winning it.

No wonder when all around him were so crap. Give him some footballers along side him and he'll play football with them.

And if Stevenage win all their games the league is theirs. Oh, and the FAT too.

I wonder if the new arrivals can ever be as committed to the cause? After all, they didn't put in the graft to get to the top of the table, their agents just phoned up good ol' Chris to try and get a medal round their neck for the CV.

Wasn't there.

However, that has perhaps given me some perspective which I may not have had if I had spent ages getting there and back to watch us play like idiots.

It is one game, AFC Wombles was our best performance all season. We're still favourites, Stevenage are in a purple patch and we need to attack more but lets not throw in the towel yet, our support is needed more than ever - lets do our bit and hope the players and Wilder do theirs.

H&ampY are in the same league as us, losing to them is not the end of the world.

Nobody is throwing the towel in, we're a long way from season tickets being thrown on the pitch but when the team that we know can play well churns up dross like that I think we have every right to moan about it.

United huffed and puffed but were bereft of quality especially upfront.

Nathan Abbey was not called into action after we scored with Green's neat finish. I'm not sure John Grant has got the stomach for this either.

Have we fucked up again ?

Season Tickets have never been thrown on our pitch.

Dozens of the plastic covers of the empty season tickets were once thrown on the pitch at the last game of the season at The Kassam Stadium.
