It really depends on where you sit. There is a terrible moaner who has sat in seat EE151 for the last few seasons who has been pissing everyone off. Now he has shut up and all is harmony in this little bit of the SSU.

Listening back again, it was not just the booing of the short corner which he was referring. He does say certain individuals and if I heard negativity in the dugout with our record I think I would get wound up.
I do not think what he said was OTT but is it only me that gets reminded of David Brent when he rants and his voice goes up an octave?

I think what he said was cleverly orchestrated to rally everyone back together and to avoid complacency. For a vague comparison, when we were top of League Two with Atkins, people all around me used to moan about the boring football despite the fact we were top of the table. Avoiding that sort of negativity this time is important.
However, he did sound like a bit of a spoilt child and I wonder what he will sound like if he ever has to give an interview when he is actually under pressure!
Despite this, I love him. Wilder is our King!

Agree, and if Chris ever wanted to have some babies by me then I’d be happy to help if only I were a girlie…"Mally" wrote:Can't disagree with anything Wilder said or the way he said it. Top man!
In the meantime I’ve asked Sooty if he can desist from killing the pigeons around my house on a daily basis and concentrate on slaughtering a few Owls instead because I’ve gone off them a bit recently.

Can't we talk about the match instead? Much more interesting. Potter's performance and goals were magnificent.
I waxed lyrical about Perry after Tuesday, today he was disappointng. Stilll young, still inconsistent. I'd still prefer him to Foster.
Batt's fitness is a worry, he's a key player for us. Clist and Sandwith did well today.
Ebbsfleet? Won't be relegated on that showing. Why was Welsh taken off just as Batt started limping? Dumb tactics.

I think the Wilder rant will rumble on a bit longer, but he's done so much good since he's been here, its a small thing to forgive.
Perry was injured so judging his performance is a bit meaningless. He's a good player, and very pacy for a CB, but being young will have his off days, with or without injury.
I agree entirely about Batt.
Sandwith was good Clist still disappointing me a little.
Ebbsfleet are not the worst we have played but they will do well to stay up.
The quality of our football was sensational at times.
Struck me as histrionics, and in the oddball media pattern of some other Oxford managers in the past, *not* what you generally hear from other managers in the media. Odd on the back of a good win, and thin-skinned - regardless of the claims early in the interview. Reasonable as a passing aside, more alarming as a three-minute rant IMO. 99% of us are nervous about him leaving, and he spends five minutes or so making some of us even more nervous. Don't understand the logic, personally.
Phil Brown FC, conference-style.

I wish Wilder would make his mind up and decide whether we can or can't celebrate being top of the league, 5 points clear with a game in hand.
One week we must take one game at a time the league is not won at Christmas Don't say the P word.
Next we should be ecstatic for the team's best league performance in 10 years.
The rest of his tirade I tend to agree with - he is singling out a few boo boys, not all of us, and is also defending his players. I think in non-league the players take criticism a bit more personally.
Also I would hope that CW uses this an example of how to react if / when he makes it as a top manager being interviewed for MOTD.
One positive is that at least he didn't criticise the ref and get fines and touchline bans.

I'm not sure he said we should be ecstatic, sounded to me like he was just annoyed at some personal criticism of his captain (as he put it). He's just defending one of his key players who's been a bit off form (and regularly substituted recently). In some ways it's quite clever because it deflects the criticism, albeit slightly risky. I imagine the players really appreciate it though.
He can't do this too often though, as the last time we scored 4 at home he dragged the players off and wouldn't let them celebrate, now he wants more celebration.
And whoever said he sounded a bit like David Brent at a few points was quite right, as well.
