Conf North play-off semis first legs:

Barrow 2-0 AFC Telford

Southport 1-0 Stalybridge

My least favourite combination of results.

Well the Conf South final is twixt Eastbourne and Hampton (cmon H&ampR), and the Conf North final features Barrow v Stalybridge (cmon Celtic, probably).

No cmon Barrow. A nice trip to the lake district. Plus the history of 62/3.

Cmon h&ampr though, although how they'll cope parking wise with 500 OUFc fans will be interesting.

Anyone know what the rules are re: ground acceptability? I can't believe that the Beveree would be acceptable at this level, unless they've made quite a lot of improvements recently (Tim?). It certainly used to be more primitive than Stafford Rangers' ground. From playing cricket around there, not a lot of resident parking schemes, unless they've been introduced recently. Whatever, come on H&ampR!

Sad that Telford didn't make it - would have been ncie to have seen another fans' club promoted (after success for AFC Wimbledon and FCUM).

The Hampton ground makes Eastbourne Boro's look like the Maracana. It is tiny.

Good pubs around the ground. Eastbourne will beat them though imo. A wretched game yesterday, punctuated by some excellent pitch side food.

Most clubs are 'fan's' clubs. But I digress.

I expect Barrow to beat Stalybridge at Burton's Pirelli Stadium
and for Eastbourne to beat Hampton &amp Richmond.


Barrow will have some travelling to do next season with the BSP
being predominantly southern based. A trip to from Barrow to Eastbourne
or Lewes for that matter is probably a 800 mile round trip!

I am looking forward to a trip to the Lakes next season.

The one Oxford reject I was quite impressed with was Wayne Hatswell, who spent the afternoon delivering delicate chips into the path of Courtney Pitt and raking crossfield balls to feet.

Carden also looked like the kind of player you want to have on your side rather than the opposition. Other than that, Cambridge didn't really turn up.

It should have been Us there at Wembley today, if only Ian Lenagan had seen the light and put Patto back in control of the playing side of things earlier. Jim should never have started this season as our manager, let alone be left in charge during the summer to ‘build’ our squad. As it is we still have a lot of that contractual mess to clear up and a lot less money to do so.

If you're going to get all hypothetical why not do it properly. It should have been Aldershot there.

As for Exeter winning I can't say I'm sorry to see the back of them for now. Cambridge aren't likely to be such a force next season whereas Exeter have/had the potential to be a constant thorn in our side.

The other great play-off news of the weekend was first seeing Rochdale get to the final - definitiely worth a trip to Wembley to see - and then even better Wycombe lost so I'll be able to get a train from Thame direct to Wembley stadium that isn't full of Wycombe fans.
