A huge game for both clubs I think Wimbledon beat York earlier this season although
it might have been a cup game?
They met three times between 3 and 12 November:
FA Cup R1: York 1-1 Wimbledon
League: York 0-3 Wimbledon
FA Cup replay: Wimbledon 4-3 York (AET)

&quotMooro&quot wrote:Update on Cov, shortlist of four apparently in place,

Three of the names are said to be: Curle, Dickov and Eric Black, with all having been seen at recent games, while the fourth name has been generally rumoured to be Tim Sherwood, as he too was seen at the game at the weekend, although some have suggested this was due to a Legends game being played....

Seems the fanbase are definitely looking at a return for Black who was felt hard done by when ousted by previous owners for Peter Reid. Appears that any of the other three will not have the fans worshipping the current owners wisdom.

Was about to post this, but just checked the bookies odds one more time, to see that briefly ex-player and in-work Steven Pressley has jumped to the top of the pile, from Curle and then Black, so could he be the mystery fourth name on the list........??
Club spokesman quoted today saying pay no attention to the names mentioned on the BBC as being THE four (ie. Curle, Dickov, Black, Sherwood). Talk now is of the list coming down to two names, one of which is in current employment (most likely Black &amp Pressley, who is manager of Falkirk), with a decision likely before Saturday.

Apparently Alan Knill has had the &quotinterim&quot dropped from his job title at Torquay.
Match preview ahead of Saturday too.

Rather worrying re: Martin Ling's health condition then....

Pressley takes training this morning before being confirmed at press conference 2pm today

So only Oldham and Portsmouth without managers in the UK, along with Hearts &amp Falkirk, the former of which has Houston &amp McInnes as favourites

...and just when you thought it was all going to go quiet until the end of the season, Roman Mk II appears:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21748762

potentially up there with the adkins sacking as the most short-sighted - surely the best man to bring them up again next season, No?
Who is going to step in - Benitez, Appleton, 'Arry, Mark Robins????

Early indications have PDC odds on, can't see that being a roaring success, though he was spotted at their game on Saturday...
USual suspects - RDM, Adkins, Curbs, Hughes - get the normal mentions...
More interesting names are Dick Advocaat, who apparently has links with the new owner and Phil Parkinson, who of course made 350|| appearances for them.

While I'm on, first new name on the Oldham list for a long time is Shefki Kuqi, in at 2/1 with one bookie, though Philiskirk still solid favourite.

Totally reversing my normal thoughts that it is not a good idea to have anybody coming back to the club that was here before, McDermott could be a good call for us (although probably wouldn't want to come here).

Presumably lives fairly locally, is not a high profile manager and so may struggle to get a managers role in premiership or Championship. Maybe I am just dreaming ...

Wow, one in the eye for us post-86 glory hunters there Paul, I would never have known he was an ex-player - increases his chances of being appointed, ruins his chances of being a success.... :?

PDC still favourite, and the more I think about the more it might happen, if this Russian chap is willing to gamble. Not sure where he lives, but only along the M4 from his previous home!
Di Matteo moving into second favourite as the 'sensible' choice, and has been approached according to the local Reading rag, Adkins third even though still on gardening leave at Soton, though as one poster points out, he only actually achieved the same as McDermott but on a bigger budget!
I wonder whether Parkinson could hack it?

Peter Houston could be appointed at Hearts today, nicely timed to disrupt preparations for their League Cup Final on Satrurday, and current Everton youth team manager David Weir is in talks to replace Pressley at Falkirk, his first club.

Things at Hearts have gone quiet until their Cup Final this weekend is out of the way - though seems caretaker Gary Locke will hand over the reigns afterwards even if he wins.
After weeks of no movement, Iain Dowie has leapt back to the top of the pile at Oldham, from Shefki Kuqi, with long time caretaker Tony Philiskirk dropping to third favourite.
Reading also not going to appoint anyone this week apparently, with Eamonn Dolan in temporary charge, albeit speaking to McDermott on a daily basis....bookies generally undecided among the usual suspects with the top names currently being: Adkins, di Canio, di Matteo, Poyet, Parkinson &amp Curbishley, although I have read reports suggesting neither di Matteo or di Canio wants the job. It does however seem the lack of an immediate replacement lined up has rendered this decision even more ill-advised than had first appeared.
BTW - for some reason Corals have Chris Wilder at 66/1 for the Reading job -

Seems a change of mind at the top has led to the appointment of Gary Locke on a permanent basis at Hearts, on the eve of the League cup final. Thus the likes of Houston, McInnes etc are all still available should a suitable English vacancy appear.
Odds settling at Reading, with Adkins (2) just ahead of PDC(3), Parkinson (6), RDM (8) Poyet (10) Dolan/Curbishley (14) - 20/1 Bar these, though none of the candidates are jumping up and down saying they want it!

It appears that Oldham are all set to appoint Lee Johnson, son of Yeovil manager Gary, as their new manager in the next couple of days. The initial story came from Sky Sports (!) but others are picking up on it! If he is appointed, he will replace Karl Robinson as the youngest manager in the Football League, aged just 31.

Press Conference to reveal new manager now announced:

Now confirmed

ACross the Pennines, Neil Warnock has urged his bosses to start the search for his replacement and has even put forward a few names....
http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/s ... -1-5503418

No indications as to who he has recommended, but the bookies have opened with: Adkins (4/1), Southgate/Poyet/di Canio (6), Coyle (10)
Current Reading line-up: Adkins (E), PDC (5), Parkinson/Dolan/Jose Enrique (7) Poyet/Di Matteo/Curbishley (12-14)

Mind is turning to who else might be in trouble come the end of the season (if not before)
In the Premier, we know Chelsea are changing, not sure Everton or Arsenal will in the end. Martinez will presumably take any Prem job offered if Wigan finally go down, tho in general unlike last summer most clubs will probably stick with who they've got, so his only choice may be Sunderland, unless West Ham sack Sam and don't take on 'Arry, who will presumably leave QPR!
In the Championship, I think both Mowbray at Boro and Pearson at Leicester may be in trouble if they finish out of the playoff slots though Most of the others near the top should be alright. Poyet may be the exception if Brighton miss out and a top flight job comes up. Most precarious at the bottom are Dave Jones at Wednesday (possible next stop for PDC if they stay up?) while I'm not sure Deano will survive relegation either.
In League One, the only two who might suffer for missing out at the top are Danny Wilson and Ronnie Moore, while at the bottom Greg Abbott at Carlisle is about the only one who may get the boot, unless Scunnie turn on Brian Laws?

Lower down, it is more of case of managers looking upwards and/or switching horses from clubs that maybe won't repeat this seasons heroics - hence the likes of Morrell, Edinburgh, Yates, or Rowett being tempted elsewhere, particularly if they miss out on going up where they are. Relegation may see the end of Alan Knill or Leam Richardson, while it has to be asked whether Edgar Davids would be happy in the conference.
Oh yes, nearly forgot, apparently the guy at Oxford was looking a bit precarious but some forums are now reporting that his job is safe for next season....

Good summary Jon although I would place a small wager that there will be a few that you have not thought of who may find that the Chairman is not happy with the managers performance and therefore are fired.

I would be a little surpsied if CW stays , but IL does seem to be one of the most patient chairman there are.

Oh and it was rumoured that McDermott may be the next Ireland Manager if Trapottini goes (apologies for spelling!)
