I know Di Canio is (ahem) a bit of cartoon character but based upon what I have read about the behaviour of some of his players, I'm on his side.
I think after the season Sunderland have had, the fans have a right to expect pretty much zero tolerance towards sloppy personal standards by the players. Fergie wouldn't have (and didn't) put up with it. Jim Smith didn't put up with it when Luke Foster was late for the Stevenage bus, and Maurice Evans - the mildest of men - taught John Aldridge a lesson when the bus home from QPR left without him.
